how anyone can be a big fan of anyone who calls himself 'The boss' is beyond me.. Born in the USA ffs, makes my skin crawl, and his new one is even worse, 'Wherever this flag's flown
We take care of our own' FFS... I can understand Americans liking him, becasue they are insular and clueless, but if your British, get a f-ing grip.... |

1)He doesn't call himself 'the boss' - his fans do. 2)Born In The USA was not a literal celebration of the title, it was an irony on the fact that if you are - you get treated like **** - eg. ex Vietnam vets. Reagan made the same mistake - and thought it was a positive message ! 3)You have to listen to what he is saying in his lyrics - to get the true meaning. I suspect all the above is beyond you though |

I bet you can buy a 'BOSS' mug at the merchandise stall at his gigs....

''We take care of our own'' not a patriotic song.......lines such as ''From the shotgun shack to the Superdome There ain't no help the cavalry stayed at home-about Hurricane Katrina-mean it's actually the complete opposite
|
|
By:
Indeed...though it is calvary...a wordplay on America's religious fervour, which can be oddly lacking when it comes to forgiveness and compassion.

As I posted earlier - you have to listen to the lyrics. Some people are just too dense to get it !! |

Try singing "Life of Riley" by the Lightning Seeds to the latest offering. Let me know if you can tell the difference.

Janice Long played Bruce last night and as it ended sang the Lightning Seeds along to it. The point was very well made. Try it on I-player.

actually after reading this thread I think he may well be a genius after all.
Write a lyric for verses that critisises US culture/politics, but make the chorus an anthemic stadium rock sing along which even the most patriotic of Americans will sing along to. Kerching!! It seems you can please all the people all of the time! now if he could just nail a good melody.... |
