Epsom, maybe about 15 miles.Don't normally go flat racing but go there whenever it's an RUK day and in April it's a reciprocal on my Sandown NH membership. As an added bonus, get there free on my Freedom pass.On the downside, service in the bars is the worst I've ever come across, outside of the Cheltenham festival.

By:
Yes.

Sandown, a magnificent track. Absolutely love the place.
By:
Kempton (I think)
By:
Bath, about 4 miles away. Highest altitude flat racing course in the UK. Takes me about 3/4 hour to get there by pushbike, about 10 mins to get home again.
By:
Rommers greyhounds, 10 mins drive
Great Leighs, Sandown I think, Kempton, Lingfield I think, or maybe Newmarket. Dunno |
By:
Bath is without doubt the worst racecourse I've ever been to, that is one scruffy gaff track. Bad horses, bad facilities, I'll never go back there.
By:
Must admit I've been to many courses far worse than Bath, although agree the quality of racing there is diabolical.
By:
Sorry sibs missed your earlier post, Heswall...takes me about 20mins to the Telford Warehouse..
By:
Thomas I have been to pretty much all the tracks from Southwell southwards and admittedly I don't know the Northern gaffs that well. It takes a lot for me to say I would never go to a racetrack again as you know I love horse racing but Bath was far too dire for me. I'd rather go to a point to point meeting at Cottenham than go there again.

By:
fontwells only 5miles as well
By:
Yes, I am thinking Redcar, Catterick, Sedgefield, Hereford, Worcester, etc.
Oc, it can always make a difference what the weather was like when you went somewhere, and also what sort of day you had. How long ago did you go to Bath? It may have improved. Members and seafood bar area always seemed OK. Tatts = absolutely dire, esp on a Sat. |
By:
Fontwell was so much better before Northern Racing came along.
By:
Someone said Cottenham was very quiet on Saturday, much better at Higham yesterday.
By:
worst racecourse ive been to is brighton
best is huntingdon out of the gaff tracks but newbury is my fav |
By:
Yeah, Brighton pretty ropey - generally managed to enjoy it there tho. Huntingdon is little more than a nissen hut in a flat field.
