1 bed flat not decorated or re-carpetted for 10 years, no hassle tennant moving out, is it reasonable to expect the flat to be re-decorated and carpetted without the tennant contributing (wine stains on small area of carpet and adjoining wall)?

I have a strict "no red wine" clause on my tenancy agreements.

I hope you aren't about to realise how valuable and rare no hassle tenants are.  I certainly miss mine.

How do you feel about a nice 2 bed maisonette on Putney riverside? Real cheap...

I was about to offer a 3 bedroom semi-detached in Chester.

With new carpets.

I'll see your new carpets and raise you a new sink and doorbell.

I'm out.

I've been renting this place out for about 8 years and it's on its 5th doorbell now. There's never been a broken window or a busted chair but the doorbells, the doorbells, mein got they're fragile.
Report polybot • February 10, 2012 12:51 PM GMT
try using an actual bell.
Report Ken Masters • February 10, 2012 12:52 PM GMT
Something about knockers, also.
Report Norma-Stitz • February 10, 2012 12:53 PM GMT
Knockers are better
Report polybot • February 10, 2012 12:54 PM GMT
not nocking knockers but you can't beat a shiny bell.
Report Ken Masters • February 10, 2012 12:54 PM GMT
That'll do.
Report Huckerson • February 10, 2012 12:56 PM GMT
Cheers for the offers, but I'm hoping for a freebie for a year, if not, I'll stay put...

it's a mental battle that's raged for centuries so i don't think we can solve it here, i don't pretend to understand the knocker mentality but i respect your right to adorn your front door in the manner you see fit.
