Cafe full of cats opens in Vienna

I had another one that mysteriously disapeared, there was nothing controversial about it.

I've been trying for ages to upload a photo of a cat on a drip. Not distressing, cat's in good hands at Haworth cat rescue. I was intending to post an article relating to the cat, but they won't let the photo through.

Having said that I've just checked and they've passed it at the 5th attempt. lol

A tiny kitten dumped in a bag has turned out to be one of nature's rarest and most unusual sights –  a male tortoiseshell.

Virtually always female, a 1 in 3,000 genetic quirk means Kawaii is one of only a handful of male 'torties' born in the UK each year.

The pint-sized puss was abandoned with his two brothers Amai and Farore in a holdall which was left at a Cats Protection shop in Gillingham, Kent.

All three were whisked to the charity's National Cat Adoption Centre in Chelwood Gate, Sussex, where a routine veterinary check-up astonished staff by revealing Kawaii was in fact a boy.

Now nine weeks old, Kawaii and his brothers – who are both black-and-white – are now being cared for by staff until they are old enough to be adopted.

Danielle Draper, Manager of the National Cat Adoption Centre, said: “We couldn't believe it when we discovered Kawaii was a boy so we kept checking and re-checking.

“At Cats Protection we help over 235,000 cats nationally every year and a male tortoiseshell is incredibly rare.

“Little Kawaii has been a real talking point and is enjoying all the fuss and attention he's been getting. We think all cats are special so we hope his brothers and him will all get the loving homes they deserve.

“Kawaii is extremely rare as there is only a one in 3,000 chance of a tortoiseshell cat being male. It doesn’t affect him or his health in any way because male tortoiseshell cats are the same as any other domestic cat but it certainly is a very unusual find.”
