This forum is a shadow of its former self, with all the attempts to make a "community" out of what already was one, failing so miserably. The moderators are anonymous and they don't use any thought when issuing bans/removing threads. A shame because many people wont stay logged on to BF as they once did (I can't be the only one). Which ultimately must cost them revenue. The death list thread was a bit of harmless fun and there are loads of worse threads which have no place on a public forum and loads of idiots who have no right to post the rubbish they do. But, they're what's left now so much of the "community" has departed. For the past year and a half BF have ignored the fact that they've ballsed the forum up. I won't be running any more competitions here, or give any more of my time to BF, as their dedication to turning this place into some kind of facebook clone has ruined nearly all the enjoyment which we used to have here. With respect to the paddy power betting on the next pope i think they are not just betting on who the next Pontiff will be but also offering a bet in which its in the interest of the punter that the pope dies sooner than later.
Would anyone take even money on the next Pope if they had certain knowledge who it would be. If the present Pope lives as long as probable you would lose money on that bet. Paddy Power would have your money for many many years. When you collected your winnings you would not get interest. Instead your winnings would be diluted by inflation. Even if you won you would lose. So, yes, they are offering a bet in which the punter needs the Pope to pass away soon. |
