I've got that pic that acey posted, it's one side of a picture disc (remember them?) from about 1979/80... I well remember revising for my 'O' levels (remember them?) while listening to "Man With The Child In His Eyes" during the summer of 1978

That is a great cover of RM. Elton John has said it's his favourite cover of that song.

If anyone wonders why there's a chair with a guitar on it in the RM performance it's because session musician Alan Murphy - who KB used on the '79 tour and on some albums - died of Aids when he was 35 and the empty chair is in his memory.

In the music video for Kate Bush's version of "Rocket Man", released as part of the 1991 Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin tribute album, she performs with her band but there is an empty chair, a guitar and a candle where Murphy would have been and cross-faded footage of him playing in the closing choruses. "This is one of the last tracks that he did with us," Bush told BBC Radio 1, "and it's particularly nice for me to feel that it's not only keeping him alive, but I know he would be really thrilled to know that [the single] was doing so well. And it's nice for all of us that loved Al to know that he can be a part of this now.

He's also namechecked in 'Moments Of Pleasure'
along with late crew member Bill Duffield
who fell through a hole in the seating at Poole
and died, in the early years

Bill Duffield died at Pool Arts Centre when packing up after the gig, which was warm up/try out show the day before the official start of the tour at Liverpool.

One of the later shows was dedicated to him.

We went back to the hotel having a few drinks, everyone was very up.
And I got the call from the hall that Bill had run back up to the top of the auditorium where the (Lighting) desk had been
and where he’d been running the show. He was doing the ‘idiot check’ –
you rush up after everything’s in the truck to make sure nothing’s forgotten.
Someone from the auditorium had lifted up a panel from the flooring on the very last step of the aisle
between the seats and placed it on the step below the top step.
Bill rushed up, tripped over it ‘cos it wasn’t lit very well, and went head first down 17 feet onto concrete.
He lasted a week on the life support machine.

My top 3 would be The Man with the Child in his eyes,Don't Give Up and Running up that hill.I'm not a big or even a medium katie fan but those 3 songs are Excellent.

Does anyone remember Judy Tzuke,lovely girl with blonde hair and big teeth.She had a beautifully titled and sung song called Stay With Me Till Dawn that I remember well.

Don't give up is really a Peter Gabriel song, written by him and on his 'so' album

Kate did of course duet on it and many people do think of it as a KB song
