Ratatouille doesn't seem as popular as it used to be.
It used to be available in cans and as ready meals for those who couldn't be bothered to make it, but you don't see it around much anymore. Is it just me or did it peak along with sun dried tomatoes?

nb not a thinly veiled gayer's thread imo Cool

that film didn't seem to boost the popularity of the traditional French Provençal stewed vegetable dish

You're right though, I haven't made ratatouile for a long time; several years. And yet it's a very tasty dish.

The eggplant, aubergine, melongene, brinjal, or guinea squash - all the same shid, it looks promising when it is raw but...

I have a 750g tin of ratatouille from Lidl in the cupboard.

It says "A LA FRANCAISE" in big letters, but "Produced in Spain" in smaller ones.

I don't have a good feeling about this.

There is no point to being an aubergine whatsoever.
Report Tommy Toes • October 22, 2015 12:29 AM BST
I wouldn't even buy one to throw at my worst enemy, let alone cook one.

British Sign Language doesn't have a sign for aubergine.Sad

My mate tried to finger-spell it instead. Turned out he didn't know how to spell it either.

Took about 5 minutes for me to work out he was trying to tell that he'd seen them cheap in Aldi or Lidl, but hadn't bought any.

Aubergine getting the kind of chit-chat treatment usually reserved for Jihadists or Diane Abbott on this thread.

The Aubergine is also known as the Eggplant. They are large, egg-shaped, varying in colour from dark purple to red.
