I feel i'm missing out, what am i entitled to?

surely i misheard that about a third of all spending goes on welfare/benefits. that's about 230 BILLION pounds. How can it possibly that much. (that's not health, education or defence in there)

I think they should increase the pension, and get rid of winter fuel allowance and increase the pension age.
getting rid of the winter fuel allowance for pensioners living on the Costa del Sol would be a good idea for starters.
Bit of an insult I reckon giving them a handout when its cold. Just put it on the pension so they can spend it/save it over the course of the year. It's just a way of complicating the whole system, because I think you still have to apply for it, which means civil servants time and effort is wasted filling in forms, printing forms and looking at forms and all that nonsense. Fk £200/£400 a year and just give them an extra £4/£8 a week.
I think the pro of it coming in a lump at winter time is that a lot people in this country are socialist peons who cannot manage their money, therefore would have blown it on scratchcards each week and then struggle through winter again, moaning.
The staggering statistic is that the cost of benefits is almost exactly equal to the take from income tax. About £160bn.

On the very same day that the the minimum wage was increased, The Equalities Bill came into force. Everybody is now considered equal (yeh - right) regardless of race, creed, colour, gender, sexual orientation and probably a host of other crap.

You are NOT entitled to minimum wage until you are 22 years old. It was 23 until two weeks ago.
So once you pass 18. and you could die for your country, you're still not a man in the eyes of your government unless you survive until you're 22.
That doesn't sound very EQUAL, to me.
Now back to £5-93 an hour, which is the minimum nationwide, no matter where you live. Unskilled labourers in London get paid more than this because if they were paid the minimum, it wouldn't be worth going to work if they had a wife and a child.

nder EU law pensioners must get pension plus cold weather allowance no matter where they are.The odd thing is how the Govt get away with not paying increases to pensioners in certain countries.

£28billion a year is paid out in Housing Benefit and Tax Credits to families who have decided to work, but the wages don't pay enough to live on.
Ask yourself a question - if you were an employer, would you pay your staff more so they had no need to claim benefits, or let the government take up the slack from the taxpayers?

Sub the mortgage with savings or sell it, not rocket science. Can sell it with a sitting tenant.
I pulled in at Newport Pagnell services on the M1 this afternoon for a p1ss and there were two coach loads of what appeared to be either Bulgarians or Romanians. They seemed very excited about being in the UK.

and the answer is is any houses flats etc get repossesed then the banks should be made to use new lower rent levels to claim back their money.
id also introduce a new law where anyone selling a second home at a profit pays top whack in tax on that profit(50%)
need to encourage a slow down gradually imo to get rents and house prices at a good healthy level.

I know one bloke who buys delapidated houses and refurbishes them before putting tenants in. He owns about 45 houses in the southern half of Newham, but has no interest in the northern half of the borough.
40 houses is a lot of rent to collect, and it's a lot of rent lost if it had to be lowered.
He'd probably sell the lot.

The only reason there are properties to let is because we no longer have rent control. Cap the rents and landlords will sell the properties off and pull out of the game just like they did prior to 1987.

We actually get Child tax credits as our joint income is quite low, you get this regardless of how much savings you may have & in a way that does not seem quite right.
I wouldn't take tax credits if they begged me.

my contract ,job says i get full pay even if i,m off and they dont get you in till you,ve had 3 different periods off,i wouldnt dream of having time off as long as i could make it and your talking 5,6 years since i couldnt make it and pulled a sickie,theres people been there less than a year and had more days off than ive had in 30 years,
but what annoys me is the firm just carry on paying the sickies and not a word is said to those who try and play the game,why dont firms through extra hols,bonus,s etc try to reward those who play the game ,i,m sure if people saw fellow workers getting a few freebies less sickies would be pulled,and off course the opposite happens when people dont get as much as a nod for playing the game they eventualy join the gravey train

I only read the first half of the first page and felt an imminent reply was required, so if this has already been mentioned then so be it...How about creating full time jobs with decent paid wages instead of a million part time jobs ranging from 8hrs per week to 20 hrs per week?

No, not joking, happy to stay busy and keep the work/play balance separate.
One of the wonderful things about this country is our volunteer network. So many opportunities to do some good things. I do a bit but would like to increase it as I get older.
