Why are the 2 girls Rooney slept being described as prostitutes and not sex workers. Is it because they are not from Eastern Europe or not been murdered?

Yes, I can't figure out this subtle difference between 'prostitute' and 'sex worker'. Is it a pay-grade thing?
Actually my guess is that the word 'prostitute' is used only when the media wishes to try and humiliate the celebrity concerned, while 'sex worker' is trotted out posthumously when the young woman concerned has been murdered by some loony. |

The difference I think is that sex workers/escorts do it as a career choice. they don't need the money (unlike prostitutes). they just want more money. they're driven by greed, not necessity.
