Far from trouble "why is this the end of this thread" Tell me are you really that stupid? this never was an up to date record of Britain's finest ever tennis player, no it is as it has always been a group of very very jealous English people who can't take that Andrew Murray is SCOTTISH though I suspect you new that already.

This thread was never about him being Scottish
It was started because as a Scotsman he showed huge contempt of the English, in other words the rant below is probably no more than payback.
Sadly to shut everyone up all AM had to do is win a Grand Slam, the fact that this thread will probably reach 10,000 + posts is wholly the fault of only one person,  that is the founding member of the Scottish supporters  section of the Paraguayan football team.

Won't get many chances like this one.  He needs Nadal to be injured to have any chance in a Slam.  That will happen though, as Nadal is a heavy player and is prepared to play Davis Cup, being ordinarily patriotic.  Fed is going to retire one day of course.

But, if he is losing ground to other players he used to best earlier in his career, he is plainly in danger of being an also ran.

What a moron you are if you are still churning out that notion which has LONG been put to bed as a misunderstanding about a bit of banter between Murray and Henman.

Murray lost fair and square today and whether he wins a slam or not is certainly in question.
However if all you can contribute is stirring up irrelevant prejudice then you'd be better off jumping onto a Motorway somewhere and beneffiting the nation's collective IQ.

" a bit of banter" you say, like this thread, oh no that is completely different isn't it Shocked
BTW I wont revert to calling you a moron or telling you to commit suicide by jumping of a motorway bridge, please feel free to continue your abuse.

Alright he lost, but he is still the only British player to get into a grand slam final in 70 years a feet he has successfully acheived in three of the last six majors.

Tim Henman who was elavated to a messiah like status in England could never acheive this feet.

In the semi final Murray beat Ferrer, that player had just won the New Zealand Open. Question were their any players in England good enough to even to get an invite to the New Zealand Open?  Not bad really the LTA spends about £50 million trying to get a decent English player and not one of them is in the top 100 players.

They'll be 101 smug English people on this thread today but is second so bad? Choking, isn't that confined to countries individuals who can't even qualify for second rate tournaments, even though they've had a kings ransom spent on them?

John lloyd got to the OZ open final in 1977 and won 2 sets.

No moves - you absolutley fail to get the point.  I would kiss the very ground Colin Montgomerie walked on after what he has done in the Ryder Cup.  I wouldn't p*ss on John Terry, erstwhile captain of the England footy team, if he was on fire.  A deeply unpleasant man who does his home nation no favours.

Scottishness has nothing to do with it.  Murray is an unpleasant little spoilt brat irrespective of his home nation, and its a pleasure to watch him lose.

It certainly wasn't regarded as a significant title in 1970's, it would have had no more status than the New Zealand Open.

is untrue.

In 1996 When the Canadian got to the U S Open final the BBC said that he was the first British male tennis player to make a grand slam final since 1930's. They obviously didnt regard the mickey mouse event Lloyd was placed in as a major.

Agassi lost three finals before going on a fine run of wins.
If Murray keeps getting to these finals he will eventually prevail. Ultimately it's a numbers game.

But I have to say it could be a Goran-esque wait and ther could be a few missed opportunities still to come.

If we can atep back from all the Playschool English-Scottish claptrap (from both sides!) and look at the bigger picture it is clear that Murray is the greatest British player to ever pick up a racket. Now that is not open to debate, even the rotting skull of Fred Perry would whisper agreement.
I supported henman for years but in truth he was a mid-talent player who overachieved getting to all his semifinals. Murray in contrast is a high-talent player who has underachieved so far, which is nevertheless surely more promising if we want to see a UK player bag repeated glories.

As a fan, today hurts like hell. But if Murray can just get past the pressure of the '70 year since a Brit won'  jinx hype, he could in all serious become the first player in the modern era to win two of every slam. His game has that much potential.

But sittinh here this afternoon, with a dent in the door and a drained bottle of red, I'm not sure it's gonna happen Sad

In all seriousness he has let a massive chance go begging.

Had beat the player he faced last night the last 3 times on the same surface.

Had avoided Nadal/Federer.

Only excuse for murray, perhaps, was he had less time to rest since his semi ,but great sportsmen can't really use that get-out.

I didn't watch the match and tbh I was shocked at the apparent ease in which he lost according to that scoreline.

Del Potro will be back soon and he'll be another massive stumbling block to all players hops to winning

a slam.

Golden golden chance gone.

I'm in two minds.

The bloke is British, he's very good, he seems a decent sort who has matured quite a bit. It would be great to see him win a slam.

On the other hand, he's Scottish and clearly not good enough. LaughLaughLaugh
