Got up early to watch it through, without knowing result.

Well done Amdy, at last!

For those of you who are real Murray haters, rather than just enjoying taking the p!ss, this must come like a red hot poker up the @rse, and you deserve it like Andy deserves his victory.

End? This thread has only just started.

Well done Andy, Chit Chat's favourite BRITISH tennis player.

Great thread this - very happy for the Muzza - certainly more so than I would have been when this thread started.

Congratulations Andy (I'm sure you read this) - thread could actually go on for another 6 or 7 years?

May i just say why oh why did he have to spoil such a great moment by asking his mummy for his dummy, sorry WATCH ?

At a time when he should have been bouncing up and down Flushing Meadow, his first thoughts were his - WATCH .............
By:

guiness2dear, he probably asked for his watch because the watch manufacturer will have a clause in his contract that he has to wear it. He gets a truck-load of cash for that so he is, understandably, keen to keep the trucks bringing their loads of cash to him. What's wrong with that?

It was his first thought, that's what was wrong with it.

Do you not find it strange that instead of buzzing and running to his 'party' and celebrating, he hobbles over and asks for his WATCH ?

i don't get scrutinising 'what he does after he's won a major sporting event', like he's a public commodity. first and foremost , he won it for himself, and doesn't need to do a single thing to please anyone else.

Well lets hope his sponsors remember that the next time his contracts come up for renewal.

Mr Fishwick, a true stalwart of this thread if their ever was one. His 2.04 post totally baffles me, for a thousand posts he's glorified in taking the piss out of Andy, now he pretends to be a supporter.Crazy

At least the English people who said they hated him and still do you can sort of respect them even if it was only bigotry.

Maybe I am taking this way too seriously and comments on here are only supposed to be lighthearted, still I bet 90% of the people who contributed to this thread were English.

If you don't take their comments seriously because their made on forum then you wont take mine seriously either so it wont matter.

Where's all this English/Scottish nonsense coming from, no moves?

It's all just been a bit of fun aimed at a fellow Brit.

guinness, who are you to say how he should feel? I for one was glad not to see the standard i've-just-won-a-slam lie-down. That makes me sick. I would imagine after all the stress of four lost finals and nearly losing from two up he mostly felt an overwhelming selnse of relief that he hadn't f**ked it.

Ultimately, this is his job, and when you go to work you do what is demanded by whomever provides your money.

The very first thing he thought of was his sponsored watch.

He looked like he'd lost, Djokovich was happier. Where was the joy, the running to family and friends? When interviewed about Lendl, he said "he nearly smiled then" Yes Andy he was one smile in front of you.

If you think his persona doesn't matter then think again, his popularity exploded after this years Wimbers final.

I'm not saying "how he should feel" i'm wondering why after one of the very best finals of all time, his first thoughts were for his WATCH.

Well it certainly wasn't as far as I'm concerned. It's not something I even think about.

Ok, I was born in the English part of the UK but on the rare occasions I watch sporting events I support all four constituent parts of the UK equally. As I'm sure most British people do. Constituent nationality plays even less of a part of it in Tennis. Sure, there's often a bit of leg-pulling between, but it's all light-hearted.
