In the few weeks since this thread was started, Muzza has won Miami
the fifth most respected singles title in the sport. Something Timmy and Greg never got close to doing for a start. Not sure that bodes well for its future. |

By:
im sure it will sail through roland garros and wimbledon

I've won as many majors as Andy, and I have to say with a little more style and panache.

Just logged on thinking "1.01 that this thread has been ttt'd at some point today"
1.01 landed :^0 ZERO Grand Slams for Murray |
By:
To think he was playing on his best surface today as well. What chance has he at Wimbledon on grass, his least favourable surface?
By:
his best surfce is hard
his worst is clay he's never beaten any top clay courters on clay hope this helps |
By:
lol, as if i didn't know that.
pmsl. |
By:
of course you didn't
By:
and on other slam surfaces, he has won, erm . . .
anyone? |
By:
not yet
the next 5 years is when he should be hoping to win them. it's when federer and agassi started what's good enough for them... |
By:
i recognise that Murray has the same amount of grand slams at this stage of his career as Federer had. But then, he has as many grand slams at this stage of his career as I had.
Any way, bless him, I had £100 on Gonzalez today, my first bet in a long time. |
By:
still 0
By:
was a good bet
gonzo is a great clay court player certainly better than murray will ever be on the surface and murray has never reached a clay final in his life or beaten a top clay player but the clay court season is only a month and a half, and the hard season around 8 months and given murray has won plenty of master series titles on hard, this pleases me and bodes well for the future if he can maintain and even improve on his high level |
By:
canary - I don't like Murray. He lets himself down with his demeanour and behaviour. As an englishman I feel I owe him no more alliegance than any other tennis player and I give him none.
But I accept he is good and will probably win a grand slam. And you are right, it won't be on clay. |
By:
well he used to be very hot headed in his teens which he's stopped. and was probably holding him back. federer was also like that in his teens. but it's part of being young i think. being good at sport doesn't make you exempt from having a temper. everyone grows up. and i also think it's unfair when people have a go at the personality because he's just a sportsman at the end of the day and even nadal is very shy away from the court. same as sampras. they're not after dinner speakers or comedians. they're tennis players and tennis requires immense concentration and focus.
By:
It doesn't require rudeness, though.
By:
he's not rude these days
always takes his defeats with good grace if you want rude, check out the antics of people like djokovic, roddick, monfils and soderling. or half the women on tour. you don't see murray getting jeered anywhere. crowds love him. which surprises me a bit given how much they turn on players for the smallest thing |
By:
Reckon Federer at 3.2 for wimbledon not a bad price. Murray at just over 6? A little short imo.
By:
yeah i wouldn't back murray at that price
but i did fancy rafa who is looking rather beatable at the mo and murray was already decent on grass a year ago before he hit real form and became a new player. if fed can play at his peak he should win, but he's looked dodgy the last year. nowhere near his old standard. should be a decent tourny anyway |
