No worries, Sparky.
How are you today? Off gallivanting along the toespaths later? |
|
By:
I have work today Tommy
![]() Had a long chat with Rachel last night, she's stressing about how hard our walk is going to be, am sure she'll be fine though. |
|
By:
Hard luck Sparky (about work).
Hope Rachel's okay too. |
|
By:
i'm sure you've already told us sparks/tommy but how long is the walk again? And will you be stopping in all 12 pubs or was that a joke? Pint in each iat half hour a go iss 6 hours taken out of your day. Also what time do you anticipate starting and finishing?
Apologies for the question bombardment. |
|
By:
It's about 27 miles for me - rather longer than I had first thought. I may have to take a short cut in one place - but don't tell Sparky!
Two pubs on my bit, but one of them appears to have closed. Aiming to finish about 8pm; probably have to start about 930am, given my funereal walking pace. |
|
By:
I'd say that is v.quick walking Muntz. I'm no great walker but have done a fair bit of it in my time. 3.5 miles/hour ist the fastest I can walk comfortably for any length of time.. But with plenty of breaks, and deterioration at the end the average for a whole day could be as low as 2 miles/hour (with back pack and up and down dale admittedly and a long pub lunch)
Is sparky doing the same distance? |
|
By:
Sparky's is a bit longer, I think.
I'm hoping that my family will provide a feeding station for us in Wolverhampton - there'll be me, my brother - he's pretty fit 'cos he runs marathons - and probably one other bloke who is from the other forum I use but also occasionally posts on betfair. |

Initially measured at 33 miles UTI, though I think it might be more like 31 now. My walking pace was always exactly three miles an hour. It's increased of late, but having Rachel with me, I imagine with conversation and wotnot 3mph is the best we can hope for.
So...about 10 hours...we're going to set off at 8am so an arrival time of around 8.30pm would give us two and a half hours of not walking. I fully intend to visit all the canalside pubs, the original 12 may not be doable due to the fact that some are a bit off the canal, and others won't be open when we pass them. I will most definitely be getting drunk though, of that I'm certain! |

Thanks to Fenway, and Fenway's mum.

given the company, i fail to see why sparky's pace is not described as "the clappers"

Another promotional photo - I managed to persuade a friend to let me write on her at a UV party last night, so all night long revellers were treated to a fluorescent advert for our walk!

Seeing as that cynical ploy didn't work, how about if nobody sponsors us by tomorrow I write the website on my ass and post a link to a photo of that?
|

Hi sparky i havnt read the whole thread but i will give a small donation tomorrow.
last time i gave was when you shaved your beard off i think. |
|
By:
haha staggy, many thanks. It wasn't a beard, it was a horrible moustache which I grew for 'Movember'! This effort is in honour of Tommy's brother, so we very much appreciate it!

By:
Off to bed now but will do it tomorrow.

Cheers staggy. I'll put the UV pen down....for now!

did he bring the sound issue with him/her/it?
|
|
By:
I thought Ean was staggy! It's not a name I'm familiar with, from either site.
|
|
By:
Ah yes, staggy - sorry, whoever it was who was promising to sponsor us the other day.
I don't know what the sound issue is you speak of, it all sounds perfectly clear to me....(said in monotone). It got funnier when she tried to walk upstairs and her feet were bigger than the steps... |

(2 entries allowed - 1st prize £4000) http://worldfantasyfootball.skysports.com/ (1 entry allowed - 1st prize £5000) several have entered on the basis this thread's charity will get a chunk of the winnings (highly unlikely but as he said in dumber "so you're saying there's a chance then) |
