Double whammy of good news today!
A couple of pubs have printed off the poster I emailed them and displayed it. I shall make sure to visit both! And the Sentinel have finally published a piece on our walk! It's online as well if you want to take a peak! |
By:
Good luck with the walk. If you get tired, stop and have a **** to get your breath back.

Wahay! Thanks to Sib (whose real name is even cooler than his online name) and, is this coincidence (?) aristocratic lefty Gareth Snell for donating!
By:
worth it to find out my names are cool.
By:
Great stuff Sib and the aristocratic Gareth Snell!
Sparky, I've found the article, but it finishes where it says 'The' (after Birmingham). Is it my computer, or the website at fault? |
By:
A busy day on the donations front . . .
Thanks to Gareth, Sibaroni, Sarah and Topher! |
By:
And another tenner from legendary resident tutor Andy and marketing guru Rachel!
have you seen the article Dom? |
By:
I have now!
By:
I invented your age and a few other details!
By:
Happy with the age! I'm not from Stone, but they did name the Catholic church there after me!
By:
I'd been trying for ages, so was a bit taken by surprise when I finally got an answer! Thing is, I can only find it by searching...not by going through the news...I hope it's in the paper proper!
By:
I've had a good luck e-mail from Sharon Manison of the ART, too
By:
With a snazzy graphic! I've made my facebook profile open to anyone, so anyone can see photos I upload tomorrow. I hope!

I'll be singing this to myself tomorrow!

Thanks puntersmate! |
By:
Did I mention a couple of pubs have put our posters up. Might be some more wonga.
By:
Bloody rain is forecast again!
By:
Not as much as the past few days. I'd rather a bit of rain than stflingly hot temps all day!
By:
Yeah I don't mind the rain itself, but the wet ground makes blisters more likely :-( My ahem, light boots aren't very good.
By:
Hmmm...up in 6 and a hlaf hours for this...the chit chat way! Something of the old forum survives!
By:
Up in 6 hours for a 33 mile walk. anyone with a penny or 200 www.justgiving.com/fourcanal - thanks, and thanks to all who have so far!
Rach IS taking part - meeting me half way there! |
By:
Finally, after 4 hours, the reply box has opened.
Good luck to Sparky and Muntz - and all walkers, on Saturday. |
By:
Whoop! We will do it Tommy! I shall text you relentlessly! I am WASTED! The first few hours may be confusing!
By:
first I've heard about this, but only look in, in the evening usually.
just been to the site to make a small donation, and got this message. We're currently undertaking some essential monthly site maintenance. Our techies are working as fast as they can and we'll be back very soon. Thanks for your patience. |
By:
i'll try again in the morning.
By:
Ha ha! Oh dear! - I've fired my 'phone up anyway!
Hope to keep everyone updated with what's going on, on this thread. |
By:
we're v grateful if and when you can get through!
By:
I've made a note to look in the morning sparky.
By:
Cheers Kenny. Sometimes the Just Giving page does go off for a bit. Keep trying.
By:
And thanks for all the latest donations.
By:
will do Tommy. 30 miles is a long walk.
I did a 30 mile charity walk in 1968 when a teenager and it was exhausting. I recall rubbing the soles of my feet for a week before on advice, with something or other, can't remember what, to harden them. Still got the certificate. |
By:
thanks kenny!
By:
Well done Kenny.
Yes, it's a big task Sparky and Muntz are undertaking. It's very good of them both, especially for such a worthy cause. |
By:
Indeed. My walk was basically around Bradford and the outskirts for old people (probably the age I am now) It started at midnight, and was started by Jimmy Saville. I did it in 10 hours including a couple of stops. Me and my mate pulled a couple of chicks around the 20 mile mark. Happy days.
By:
Cheers Tommy, but really we're just going for a walk. The proper heroes are those (like yourself) who chucked money our way. Lot of lessons learned here.
By:
Sparky, you're too modest.
Nothing would have been raised without yours and Muntz's effort. Well done to you both. |
By:
Right, I'm over half an hour late, and still to be honest, completely shitfaced. This promises to be taxing. I'm too drunk to remember my phone number, but Tommy is authorised to pass it on to any well-wishers! Photos will be posted on facebook, and Lord Toes will relay any info here too! I've just realised that my light boots are a bit knackered, in that the holes the laces go through only go half-way up...oh well it is the chit-chat way, I have a lot of time to make-up, so.....AWAY!

First news from Sparky:
"About a mile away from Stone. Sopping wet.Covered in mud and not f****** happy! Next year am just gonna write you a cheque!" |
