This is a link to the Jack Johnson Bio.It is essentially a factual account that had be engrossed for about 4 hours. If you can get it on DVD I don't think you will regret it. http://www.pbs.org/unforgivableblackness/ |

Thanks very much Tambers.
Jack Johnson is a boxer who I rate as my 'Number one' - probably, as i've not seen enough of his fights to be sure. He certainly was a facinating man. |

Cheers, I'll watch out for that.
I was hoping to get a boxing film in my xmas stocking, Million Dollar Baby or The Cinderella Man, but they didn't materialise..:( |

Nice on TT, lights now back on.
Sabre - In hindsight, Sporting Index's quote in 45BC of no defeats for the commander of Gaul, proved in hindsight to be a massive rick. |

He took out all the challengers with unbelievable ferocity whilst at the same time living a Bacchanalian life.
Jess Willard finally took him when he was OTT but all Boxing fans need to see this. |

Hello AITL.
Nice to see you - as well as Tambers amid all the nonsense on this forum just lately. I think I'll go and poison myself with another mushroom! |

I see the forum is playing up again.
Tambers, I saw a clip the other week of the Willard fight. Jack was a great fighter. I also saw, many years ago, a film of him - with the bloke who was in The Field Of Dreams playing Jack. That's worth watching. He went through an awful lot of contempt because of his colour and the fact that he was the first black heavyweight - and no one could beat him, in his prime. I've left a couple of messages for you on the poet thread, by the way. |

Off to watch the boxing, hopefully.
