Here's a BBC site from a doctor working in a Mexico City hospital

The number of cases increases significantly every day. The number of fatalities is also increasing. At least three doctors are said to have died from swine flu. There is great fear among the medical community. We know that the situation is very serious and that we are at high risk of infection.

But we are more scared of carrying it into our homes and infecting our loved ones. One of my colleagues that was exposed chose to stay in a hotel rather than run the risk of infecting her daughters.

These fears are getting worse as we realise that it is not possible to get antiviral drugs from pharmacies and that in the health sector they are close to being delivered in droppers.

Despite this, the government says that it can rely on antiviral drugs to treat a million cases. We do not have easy access to these, even though we are part of the health sector.

In one hospital doctors were given the anti-viral rimantadine, even though there is resistance to this drug. Also, fewer samples are being taken from severe cases, as there is a lack of means of transporting and cultivating the samples. Dr Arreola López Guadalupe

when a nation's medical standards are so low a doctor would use a phrase like 'At least three doctors are said to have died from swine flu', you can understand why they're in trouble.

If you're a medical professional seeking to inform the world about a possible pandemic, weasel words are generally best avoided.

If bird flu is more properly termed 'avian flu'. Shouldn't swine flu correctly be 'porcine flu'?

joking aside though!! i do feel one or two people have been a little disrespectful towards cath, shes every right to voice her concerns on a forum if she so chooses, after all there are numerous posts relating to whats your fav budgie , or organ, or malteser etc...at least cath posts something she feels genuinely important.
Now whats your fav colour jar for vicks?I am partial to the blue one.

The main problem if this flu spreads for us betfairians will be cancellation of sports events . Football season is almost finished, but imagine WEEKS without horse racing.
Also I work in the hotel industry and I feel it will suffer the hardest.

Still not understanding this. What are the 'weasel words' (in your opinion), and how do they discredit what he is saying? Bear in mind English is not his first language.

And British hospitals are spotlessly clean and medical malpractice do not exist.

Captain, outside of Mexico, the disease is mild, but this could change.

If you were to catch it early, it could confer immunity to the more dangerous strains later on.
