Why do you want a relationship with a racist, homophobic, murdering, bully who condones rape and torture whilst swinging violently between love and hate, aggression and mercy?

Tony Broke 22 May 11 13:48
don't neccesarily want reward, that's the problem, just want a real relationship with the creator. The problem with that Tony is that no-one knows how the universe and life on Earth came into being. that's why we have these discussions. We'd all like to know. There are lots of theories, some more plausible than others. But the likelihood of us finding out the definitive answer within our lifetimes is very remote. Indeed, mankind may never find out the answer. So to talk about having a relationship with a creator is somewhat premature, to put it mildly. It's also very presumptuous to assume that he'd be interested in having a relationship with you! You might not be his type. |

The problem i see is this,, the commentators or spokesmen of the bible not only profess to know of the `creator of life` the architect of everything, but they know him so well that they know his inner thoughts....yet when prophecies do not pan out as planned,,the prophecies have been misinterperated by todays believers.
If Adam and Eve created Cane and Able,,,then how did Cane and Able have children,,are we saying it was incest? the bible is nonsense in more ways than you believe Tony. |
|
By:
Genesis states that Adam and Eve had three sons - Cain, Abel and Seth. It also says they had other sons and daughters but doesn't mention any other names.
|
|
By:
So basically Adam and Eve were at it like rabbits.
|
|
By:
Either way it must have been incest. As it is all myth then i dont really care.
The bible is a philosophy. Faith is wishful thinking. If God created man then why do we have so many religions?...of course to test our faith bladybladyblaa!!! |
|
By:
Oh yes. It was definitely incest.
But hey! As the French say, un trou est un trou. |
|
By:
Not sure where black people came from then!
|
|
By:
Is there any mention in Genesis as to what colour skin Adam and Eve had? Don't think so. Maybe you should be wondering where white people came from.
|

AG wrote Tony its not your fault mate. You believe in these prophecies because of some kind of mind control over the years. You want them to be true because you feel in a minority and want to be self rewarded in some way. Reality leaves much to the imagination or vice verse. I firmly believe the bible is not as factual as you believe
I know, but you have no evidence for that belief, or at least you have not presented it.You have no evidence of mind control in Tony's life either, more speculation on your part. |

Sunset and Tony, why did you both leave the "Indisputable Evidence for God" thread so bare if there is so much evidence that you keep referring to?

AG wrote The problem i see is this,, the commentators or spokesmen of the bible not only profess to know of the `creator of life` the architect of everything, but they know him so well that they know his inner thoughts
I don't think many think that.I certainly don't think that.God is a great mystery in many ways. ....yet when prophecies do not pan out as planned,,the prophecies have been misinterperated by todays believers. people like Harold Camping are false Prophets. There are plenty of other false prophets about though.Scientists and those that keep making false weather forecasts for example. If Adam and Eve created Cane and Able,,,then how did Cane and Able have children,,are we saying it was incest? the bible is nonsense in more ways than you believe Tony Not this old chestnut again. This one has been debunked more times than I've had hot dinners.Adam+Eve had other kids apart from Cane+ Abel.marrying your sister or brother was not forbidden at this time, the law of Moses came later.marrying your brother +sister is not a good idea because of genetic , but we don't know that this applied at this time.Adam+ Eve would have not accumulated genetic mistakes because everything that God made was very good. |

Again thats your belief that it's myth and again you have not supported that belief with any evidence. The bible is a philosophy. And also history. Faith is wishful thinking. yes like your faith that the bible is a myth. If God created man then why do we have so many religions? That is man trying to please God.Trying to keep rules, Christianity is different, it's about God doing some thing for man.Sending Jesus to die for the sins of the world. This is what makes Christianity unique. ...of course to test our faith bladybladyblaa No ,where did you get that from? |

Ivor, I entirely try and wind up Sunset, it's a chit chat duty I feel obiged to make. I've given up reading what he says as it's usually gibberish but usually contains the words "Prove it" in some part of his C/P.

I like to give other peoples beliefs and opinions every chance, every benefit-of-the-doubt possible - but Sunset, you really let yourself down with this : ".marrying your brother +sister is not a good idea because of genetic , but we don't know that this applied at this time".
We do know it, we really do. I can believe in things for which there is no evidence I can believe in things which my fellow man calls crazy But I can't believe in laws of nature - genetic ones, in this case - which suspend themselves just for long enough to allow people who believe as you do to say "we don't know that this applied at this time" : we do Sunset, we really do. |

I didn't say that, learn to read. ?....which language was the wedding service conducted in? ..and that there was no human beings before Adam and Eve who said that? Depends on your definition of human being. We are **** sapiens sapiens.possibly there was other kinds of humans before us. ...... I feel so sorry for you Christo, i really do I pity you because you are so bigoted and ignorant.I'm trying to educate you ,but your not intetested. You are wasting my time. |

i find lots of problems regarding the ot and yet i am convinced that the prophecies relating to jesus have indeed, been proven true, i can study christ's life, all he said, i cant believe some people at the time had other motives regarding all he said about himself and God.
He preached love, forgiveness, a new relationship with the father through beleiving in him, he never ever told people to go to war, kill others, rape etc or indeed take money...its people all along the line who have misinterpreted and disobeyed the teachings, if people did what he said, the world would be a much better place. I have problems with prayer, and loving my neighbour, i cant really live the way he meant me to, but this doesnt make the message any less real. I cant accept jesus was a liar, or mad, and certainly he showed no evidence of harming anyone. I therefore have to decide what i do think of him, and i believe he is who he says he is...if man had just conjured the sayings and miracles up, i believe the world is in an even worse state than it already is...a world without hope where the only thing u have to look forward to is death...and you will never see your family again, this has to be the most futile thing about life itself, 75 yrs is a joke, a lifetime seemingly without purpose other than to have children you will never see again. The evidence for God's handiwork is everywhere,my spirit acknowledges this every time i look at nature. I am intensely interested in what life means, ad what God is like, I believe Ive found the answer to the latter; as far as the former is concerned im afraid well never know, or at least, if all i believe is true, not this side of eternity. |
|
By:
The 'evidence' is the well understood and established 'genetic law' :that an offspring is, and cannot be other than, the product of the coming together of the genes of the parents.
Remember, you have proposed that these rules just didn't apply in the very beginning. |
|
By:
IF he existed as you believe - he would be called a vicar or deacon or bishop today - no more than that.
|
|
By:
and I'm certainly not going to start shouting 'wheres the evidence' at you as that would be like shooting fish in a barrel. (as it is not my intention to embarrass you, to see you spluttering to defend the proposition that the laws of genetics just didn't apply in the beginning)
|

By:
of course they did if God made them!

Tony, its a given that in the entire history of human society that powerful people will use whatever leverage they can and misrepresent whatever they feel will help them along the way. Now considering that, have you ever wondered that since the words of jesus have been used (whether rightly or wrongly) to justify so much suffering, whether the most compassionate thing Big J could have done is keep his mouth shut? Or did he think it was all worth it. |
|

But his father preached hate, punishment, war, murder, rape, looting... no one can misunderstand God in this respect. |
|
By:
Tony - if you're remotely serious about your beliefs you'll have to do better than to offer a joke - as evinced by the '!' at the end - as a response to my 20:37 answer to Sunset.

well, you already heard this before d m:
of course it 'appears' that the human race started out with a little bit of incest. The world at that time very good, God hadn't declared sex with relatives as sinful until moses' time, as time has progressed, it would appear the degeneration of both humankind and the world itself would require some needed changes to prevent certain unfortunate scenarios..I feel a lot of God's laws weren't necessarily put into place to spoil our fun, but to actually forewarn us about consequences to actions..ie. God wouldve known that, given time, inbreeding couldve resulted in deformity ..im sure you know the rest. |
|
By:
Can't you understand the human race did not 'start out' ever. There was no moment at which man and woman materialised in a puff of smoke!
In biblical times they just wrote their best guess of how it may have been - we've moved on since the cavemen. |
|

which is it to be then, slime or monkeys?
