I'm assuming missed reds count as -1? on Mr Nibbs scoreboard?

Of course, forgot about no minus scores.

I'm convinced Mr Nibbs isn't human.

I was quite surprised anyone got the Captain Kirk answer to be honest.

I like to make the final black ball quite tough and I happened to hear John Carpenter mention the mask in an interview some time ago and thought it would make a good quiz question.

You'll get sixty-five points for that win on Tobermory's league table Dan. :)

I know, a couple of placed efforts is all I have to my name this year too. A much needed boost :)

Strangely enough, Alex mentioned Captain Kirk earlier on the thread! :)

I think the Risk/Reward format is excellent. If you're unsure and consider posting an answer for long enough, you risk "fouling" without the advantage of gaining points by posting down the field.

As I did with Hibernia... and almost for the speaker!

It was an excellent quiz PM, and I know little mistakes and such are annoying as a quizmaster but they tend to add to the fun of it. imo

When: 19 Feb 10 22:33
Thanks Graham and Dan. :)

I take pride in hosting a good quiz, though, and although the mistakes might add a little flavour to proceedings I find them very vexing indeed! I really don't believe I have made so many in all the other quizzes put togther, but it was a nightmare tonight with the computer glitches and it was putting me off my game.

That's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it. :)

I definitely thought Nirv had it in the bag tonight after his Lord Chancellor answer.

Who would have guessed, after hundreds of years, it just got changed in 2006?

That was very unlucky for him I think. :(

Was just looking at Nirv on the progression scoreboard. With his pedigree, if that was a snooker mach people would be shouting**

Changing subject slightly Poker, do you have any kowledge of the venue for the World qualifiers in Sheffield? i.e. Logistics of the place, viewing areas etc.

As we missed out on the Crucible ballot, I'm thinking of going on the Sunday.

I'm sure you'll win one day Jim. If you can play from the start it is normally sound game strategy that will win you this quiz.

Nirv and Easter are very tactically astute but, for once, it was the mercurial flair of the young Irishman that took home the trophy this evening. It's like 1982 all over again.

Is it possible from the chart to see who had the highest break Mr Nibbs?

A break consists of any continuous score by the way. So one would need to get the red to further the break, but not necessarily first in on the colour.

Yeah. I thought it would attract a lively debate, but I was astonished how uppity some people got over the subject.

It was worthwhile for me, though, as I'm writing a book regarding that general topic and it's always very useful to hear the opinions of others.
