Savile was weird and there had to be something behind that pantomime act. There were rumours but no clues to the depth of his dark side. But Harris ?  The funny guy with the beard and paintbrush, a singer, the bloke on Animal Hospital, lovable personality.   What clues that he was a pervert ?  I met him once when he was doing an art exhibition in Taunton. You could never have guessed about the dark side to him.

People like him are very good at hiding the truth when they want to. They are very devious and that's precisely how they get access to their victims. It's naive to think you can just spot them. That truth is a different part of their lives. Would never have suspected him. My view now is that his jovial nature was genuine but he also had perverted appetites which he refused to control.

I grew up admiring Rolf and Saville, I guess that's how they got away with it for so long.

I always liked Rolf but not Savile.
I felt that RHs demeanour was genuine but Savile came across as totally in love with himself.

What a bad judge of people I must be  found Saville Harris and Stuart Hall entertaining what a bad treble.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Rolf twice.  Once at Heathrow Airport baggage collection from Singapore when I finished school in 1980 - he signed my school book with a drawing of a guy drowning in a pond with one of his hands out the water ... (could have been a sign?) and again in the Mandarin Hotel in Singapore (top posh hotel, btw!) circa 1987.  A local rock band (Speedway - doubt they're still going but we were good mates at the time) were on - with strippers ... unheard of at the time!!!

Anyway, he seemed to be a most excellent chap and I hope with all my heart that most of the charges he is facing are bullshine

I think that loads of people shared that sentiment.

Aka probably a case of being disappointed by Harris having committed those crimes & well as being disgusted by them, compared to Savile where you just felt total disgust for his actions.

Crags is that the 7 year old who claimed that his big hairy hands touched her twice whilst waiting for an autograph? This was at a community centre, no evidence has been found that Harris was there, he also showed the jury his hands denying that they were hairy.

Count 2 was the groping of a waitress, how could he prove he did not do that or how could she prove that he did?

Counts 3-9 are the girl he had the affair with. She said it started when she was 13 he claimed she was 18.

Counts 10-12 Again this is groping a 15 year old.

I am not saying he is innocent but from what I have read (obviously I was not in the courtroom) I could not have said guilty.

How can justice be served when these events occurred in the 60's, 70's and 80's and the people concerned did not contact the police at that time? 

The woman who he agreed that he had an affair with only went to the police when it all was happening about Saville.  Why did she not come forward earlier?  The others only came forward after it came out about her.

It is the same with rape, they come forward years after the event, how can anyone prove their innocence?

What about all the years that he abused his daughters best friend. You think she made all that up. Steamship?


HIS DAUGHTER’S BEST FRIEND: She was just three years old when she first met Rolf Harris after becoming best friends with his daughter Bindi.

Within a decade he was molesting the ‘excruciatingly shy’ teenager, using her ‘like a toy’ in a sickening abuse of trust that continued for 16 years.

The victim said she ‘felt dead’ after being repeatedly assaulted by the entertainer, who used her for his sexual gratification as if she was a ‘blow-up doll’.

Harris pounced on her in a hotel suite, touching the ‘shocked and panicked’ girl intimately as she came out of a shower wearing just a towel.

Days later, he molested her again – just yards from his sunbathing wife and daughter – after handing her a towel as she emerged from the sea.

The abuse continued after they returned from holiday, with the teen saying she ‘felt disgusted’ for letting him do it but was afraid to speak out.

On one occasion he even performed a sex act on her in Bindi’s bedroom while his daughter slept close by.

She said: ‘He didn’t feel inhibited. I think he got a thrill out of it. From the look on his face – he was looking over at Bindi and then just carried on.’

Harris regularly abused the youngster in her own bedroom on visits to her home, before returning downstairs to make jokes with her parents.

Unable to cope, she was binge-drinking by the age of 14.

The abuse continued into adulthood, by which time she had been ‘psychologically destroyed and trained to perform like a pet’, the court heard.

He touched her intimately in his dressing room at Wimbledon Theatre just before he was due to perform in Cinderella.

The woman finally confronted him when she was in her early 30s, prompting him to apologise and write a letter to her father pleading for forgiveness for his behaviour – but insisting it had been an affair which began after she was 18.

She finally resolved to report him to police after watching him perform his hit Two Little Boys at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

She said: ‘The TV was on and Rolf Harris was on and I thought, “I just can’t get away from this bloody man”.

‘I just burst into tears... it was like he was invading my home. That’s when I decided that I wasn’t going to have any more of it.’
