Citroen999. Has it ever occurred to you the the 'Annoying old man' might have required the sachets for two separate occasions or possibly two different people? I think perhaps you do him a disservice with by reaching conclusions without access to the facts.

Reminds me of my younger days when I went into a fishing tackle shop and I noticed some bait labelled ‘’cheese paste.’’

I said to the assistant ‘’cheese paste eh, what do you catch with that – mice?’

‘’Oh no’’ he replied ‘’chub roach dace barbell.’’

The timber yard bloke was taking the p!ss out of you.

When you said 'still 6mm' it will have got his annoyed.

Haven't you heard the term "I'll just sharpen mt pencil"?

If it was a large order he may have been different but for 1 sheet of 6mm ply he obviously wasn't fussed

original post was funny and sums up the inches vs mm's scenario when you phone these type of organisations up

try going into b and q and asking for a piece of 4" x 2" ( 4 b 2) these days and they will think you've dropped in from another planet.

Go into  a wood yard and ask for wood in mm's and they will try  to convert back into inches....

Does this timber yard do much work for NASA?

The Mars Climate Orbiter (formerly the Mars Surveyor '98 Orbiter) was a 338 kilogram (750 lb) robotic space probe launched by NASA on December 11, 1998 to study the Martian climate, atmosphere, surface changes and to act as the communications relay in the Mars Surveyor '98 program, for Mars Polar Lander. However, on September 23, 1999, communication with the spacecraft was lost as the spacecraft went into orbital insertion, due to ground based computer software which produced output in non-SI units of pound-seconds (lbf×s) instead of the metric units of newton-seconds (N×s) specified in the contract between NASA and Lockheed. The spacecraft encountered Mars at an improperly low altitude, causing it to incorrectly enter the upper atmosphere and disintegrate.

The orbiter cost $125 million. Never mind.

Had a couple of funny encounters when buying a second hand 6ft chest freezer out the paper a few yrs ago.
One advert was for a large chest freezer so i phone to find out how large. Vendor tells me when her daughter lays down she can just fit in it!. I ask ,how tall is your daughter then? She replys i dont know.
Another person advertised a 6ft chest freezer so i arrange to see it .Drove about an hour to get there and as soon a i walk into the persons garage i can see its  5ft not 6ft.I say thats no good its 5ft,he replys ,"no it isnt i measured it before i put the advert in ,its definitely 60 inches which is 6ft". When i break the news that there are 72ins in 6ft he tells me that im wrong and gets his tape measure to show me.When it dawns on him that he made a mistake he did the decent thing and offered it FOC to cover my time.
