A French jewish group therefore sued the US company Yahoo Auctions. A French court initially ruled that Yahoo was breaking French law by allowing sale of nazi memorobilia to French citizens. In US court Yahoo argued that they had first amendment right to free speech even if they broke French criminal law.

In the end, according to Wikipedia, Yahoo took the pragamatic view that "although technically the decision only required Yahoo! to prevent the sale of Nazi objects to people in France, Yahoo! has since chosen to remove the sale of Nazi memorabilia from its site entirely."
