I can't see the point in all this handball lark. And Greco-roman wrestling is just eye candy for uphill gardeners imo.
Triple jump
I can see how each event has some relevance to 'real life' situations, so the marathon obviously has its origins in the run from Marathon to Athens, the high jump would be useful if you want to jump over a wall or something, the 1500m when you need to outrun a bear etc.
When would a triple jump ever be required? Never. Ban it.

About that.. we have single long jump and triple one.. why not a double jump too??
Anything 'synchronised'. Performing a triple somersault off a ten metre platform and entering the water with barely a splash is impressive enough in its own right. Doing it at the same time as somebody else adds nothing.

just for the record, a little gripe of mine is opening fking ceremonies. I guarantee the opening ceremony in 2012 will be absolute sh.ite, just like every other olympic opening ceremony before it. Why do we have to have a load of ethnic c.nuts dancing like p.oofs at a fking sports event? We dont expect to get a few honkys juggling footballs at the presentation of the p.ssing turner prize at the tate c.unting modern ffs.

i was seething at the 2008 olympics. went to the pub to watch the cricket during my lunch hour and they turned it off because a bunch of fkin office t.arts wanted to watch the fkin opening ceremony. no one enjoyed gb's performance in the 2008 olympics more than me but fk (with a capital F) the dancing and little girls playing pianos and bllox. "oh look they're dancing again, and now there are fireworks" fk that.
