Some hideous generalisations in this thread IMO. It's good to be aspirational, but the snobbery of some of you towards the poor is ridiculous and unfounded. Thatcher's vision of the aspirational society merely degenerated into a situation where you can denigrate somebody for having less money than you.

Fair play if you do "work your guts out" . There are many, however, who get paid ridiculous amounts of money for sinecures. The fact that they do little or nothing to earn their over-inflated salaries, is conveniently forgotten when they complain about the amount they "pay" in Tax.
