If any of you barrow boys wish to buy me a pint I shall be in the Angel in Covent Garden. Just look for the handsome man. I'll be the one hoping he'll stop talking to the girl.

The Angel, Covent Garden fancyapint.com rated3 pints

This is a lovely Victorian pub in the gay area between Covent Garden (Shaftesbury Avenue) and Tottenham Court Road.

It does food, which is a bit basic, and not the best representation of a Sam Smith's pub. It's serves the usual Sam Smith's fare and is very reasonably priced for central London. It's obviously had complaints from local residents, as the beer garden now closes promptly at 5.15pm. The bar staff can appear a little miserable, but apparently that's par for the course when you work for a brewer from Yorkshire. Anyway, don't let that put you off though - definitely worth a look.

case...we're old friends meeting up after too long, so ideally we want a quiet bar, if you can recommend any it would be appreciated.
Report golfnut • January 6, 2010 11:48 PM GMT
You looking for a local type pub spark?
Report Big Charlie • January 6, 2010 11:49 PM GMT
All the bars are quiet as the smokers stay at home.
Report sparkmaster. • January 6, 2010 11:51 PM GMT
Not bothered really golfnut...basically just somewhere we can get served reasonably quickly, isn't very noisy or too expensive. We'd be happy sitting in the park and drinking cans from the co-op!
Report golfnut • January 6, 2010 11:53 PM GMT
Get the tube to Angel,6/7 min walk down Upper Street and just turn off of the side roads....there are 3 or 4 nice bars easily found,on a Sat Upper Street area is ok....you will find no "quiet" place in CV on a Saturday night....

Failing that there are plenty of nice park benches for you!.....enjoy your Tennants extra!

Ive not drank in town for years Spark ,probably be sending u to boozers they have knocked down :^0 ,I used to drink in a pub called the old bell in fleet street ,like stepping back in time when u go in there ,but its probably

Cheshire Cheese pub on Fleet Street worth a visit. Straight out of Dickens' times, cheap as ***** if you can get a good sport in the front room should get served pretty quickly. A hidden gem of London town.

There is a little pub with a 'Bay window' just opposite the side door of The Theatre Royal on Drury Lane. I watched the racing their about 6 weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. Very friendly and welcoming.
