not hard to see why the CPS proceed with iffy cases. they must know full well when it's a shaky case but also know they'll probably get away with it. juries don't to leave cases unsolved especially someone has been killed.

brendanuk obviously he wasnt on the net as he stated, however where is the proof beyond reasonable doubt that he together with knox killed the girl?? not to say they didnt, but the case was weaker than Carling lager!!!! An appeal will surely be successful, it seems any case where the jury can read papers, internet, talk to who they wany is severely flawed from the outset!!

the dna evidence being used does not meet requirements to be admissable in court in uk or usa. 200 base pairs must be available for analysis.

in this case the dna evidence they are using is only 50 pairs - it is inadmissable in the usa and uk because IT DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING. the low standard sample could prove any number of other people were guilty - because such a small section will be shared by a huge number of people.

not read anything else about the case, so cant comment on guilt etc. just wanted to comment on the dna aspect.

In a statement read to a press conference in Perugia, Miss Kercher's brother Lyle said: "Ultimately we are pleased with the verdict.

"It's not a time for celebration. It's not a moment of triumph.

"We are all gathered here because our sister was brutally murdered and taken away from us.

"Of course, there were two very young people who have been sentenced yesterday to a very long time behind bars."

Miss Kercher's mother Arline told reporters: "At the end of the day you have to go on the evidence because there's nothing else."

The family praised the efforts of police, prosecutors, and jurors during the two years since Miss Kercher's death, with sister Stephanie thanking the public for their messages of support.

Not much doubt there from the family who followed the trial as much as anyone for 2 years

Report Brodie • January 5, 2010 10:21 PM GMT
If she was going to implicate someone and say she was there at the time of the murder ( she switched to this later ) why didn't she say it was the black guy who is doing 16 years and is pretty much decided as guilty ?
Why did she implicate that innocent bar owner?
Report timmy2988 • January 5, 2010 10:24 PM GMT
That appears to be her biggest mistake. Surely should have blamed Rudi (who appears guilty as f*ck) than blame her boss. Maybe panic I suppose but it was not clever and once her boss was cleared, Knox was completely f*cked. Hardly any mention of the boyfriend in the documentary....
Report Brodie • January 5, 2010 10:26 PM GMT
Yes ,what I am saying is that IF she WAS there ,she'd implicate him straight away. It makes no sense to own up to being there at the time and lay the blame at another fella.

Further twist...

Wells was drawn into the plot through Barnes, whom he knew through a prostitute who often used Barnes' home as a place to have sex with customers.[3] The whole plot was hatched to get funds to pay Barnes enough money to kill Diehl-Armstrong's father, so Diehl-Armstrong could get an inheritance, authorities said.

I'd generally caution against taking odd/insensitive behaviour as evidence of guilt. I've a friend who commented online about someone ELSE having a very distasteful fancy dress costume and he's still be persued by the tabloids for it today.

However, her attempting to implicate someone else and changing her story repeatedly, does to me make her look guilty.
Report owl4life • January 6, 2010 11:28 AM GMT
innocent
Report TELL DEL • January 6, 2010 11:29 AM GMT
On that programme last night, it clearly seemed to suggest that some police nearby
had found her mobile phone, then came to the house and walked straight into a crime scene,
and her boyfriends call to the police reporting it - was actually made about a minute
after when the police had already arrived. Then there were pictures of Amanda Knox
and the boyfriend kissing outside the house. Very odd behaviour, then later when they
were arrested she tries to blame it on to the coloured chap who was her boss,
but he soon got released. Think she was a nasty person anyway high on drink and drugs.
Report Don No1 • January 6, 2010 11:57 AM GMT
Apparently there are inconsistencies in the reports that they arrived before he made the call, though that's from friendsofamanda

Tough call for me, I side with innocent though. I struggle to see how they could have left her in such a state and leave no DNA. Not sure how they found her guilty on the basis of the evidence

This line of " she is a nice American girl and cannot be guity" which her parents are peddling , makes me feel ill.
Hope she rots in jail
Report Brodie • January 6, 2010 12:32 PM GMT
I'll repeat what I said ( p1ssed ) last night.
Lets assume she is guilty and Rudi ,who pretty much everyone agrees is guilty too.
She initially said she wasn't there at the time of the murder.
She then changed her story and said she was there and implicated her boss, who was later freed.
Now, assuming she is guilty then why on earth didn't she just implicate Rudi and not an innocent man?
Get what i mean ,or am I missing something?
