I work within a same-day courier company at the moment, not willing to mention the name but i was the most successful sales person of 2009. I have quite a large amount of bills and can't afford to take a day away from regular payment to start up my own business but it is definately something worth doing and as soon as my debts are cleared I am going to give it a crack. it's amazing what you find on these forums, would never have thought someone would be talking about this but i have a great interest in it as I can see the potential with my existing clients. is it just yourself in a van?
Report begb • January 5, 2010 2:59 PM GMT
iv got use of a van but i use my car most of the time as its only softwear they send thanks for your repley and good luck i hope you can get out and work for yourself its miles better

Report begb • January 5, 2010 3:03 PM GMT
not long about four months now its good but just not enough work from this one company tho they do send me abroad somtimes which is fun
Report thebrain_01 • January 5, 2010 3:07 PM GMT
good for you, if you've got a media company using you why not try other media companies, they're pretty good users of couriers and london is full of them! use the current company you work with to your advantage.
Report begb • January 5, 2010 3:10 PM GMT
i should have a sit down with them the guy who owns 30 percent of the company is a good friend of mine we used to work toghter afew years ago thats how i got the contract in the first place
Report thebrain_01 • January 5, 2010 3:14 PM GMT
I wish I was in your shoes! The company I work for are frustrating to say the least, they're losing drivers and we're having to turn work away, you don't get second chances in this business when you let someone down. There are so many people I have good relationships with but simply won't use us anymore due to the service. their loss will be my gain though, all in good time!
Report begb • January 5, 2010 3:19 PM GMT
i think you need to act quick mate there lose is your gain, a mate used to work for citysprint but got so sick of having to lie to pepole about where stuff was and why it was late he left they just took on to much work more then they could handel
Report thebrain_01 • January 5, 2010 3:22 PM GMT
i'm in the exact same position as your mate, i must say i've never lied but having to tell clients ridiculious delivery times puts them off. the thing is I can't afford to go at it alone at the moment because i won't be able to cover my bills for the initial period. i'll just have to be patient! why not get some leads from your mate?

Before you contemplate, check out the cost of insuring yourself and the "goods" you will be couriering .
Report Big Charlie • January 5, 2010 3:25 PM GMT
Could you let me know if you get any work in Hatton Garden

Thanks
Report begb • January 5, 2010 3:27 PM GMT
i should i want to try and bring him in aswell his a good guy and out of work now but the only thing is he lost his driving livence so he carnt drive for six months i think
Report thebrain_01 • January 5, 2010 3:29 PM GMT
i'm lucky there as used to work in insurance and have some links there lol, but i have looked at every aspect. I have confidence in myself, If you don't believe in yourself no company will trust you with their goods. Not trying to blow my own trumpet but people by from people, If i went to another courier company my customers would come with me and likewise if i went alone.
Report begb • January 5, 2010 3:33 PM GMT
well then just work hard try and save the cash to cover you and go for it you only live once. good luck mate and thanks for the advice
Report thebrain_01 • January 5, 2010 3:33 PM GMT
