2 of the most annoying must be "would of" and "could of".

Language eternally evolves.

Always used by the illiterate this excuse.

Like the sign in my local advertising ''pizza's''. FFS, why is it so difficult to get your head round the concept of plurals and possessives?

Because you can't be bothered and would rather spout tosh about language evolving?

There's an estate agent here with the name Cyprus Property's signwritten over their office.
Makes me cringe with double embarrassment for them every time I see it.

What bad grammar would you like banned on here?

Unspoken and presumed words.

For instance in the above sentence I would have inserted "to be" as in "like to be banned".

I would, also, like pedants banned, I mean to be banned.:)

heard a woman on the radio the other day commenting that her business literally fell off a cliff in the recession. I thought, oh, poor lady until the truth came out.
Report JOCI Club • January 1, 2010 10:02 AM GMT
Wouldn't it have 'actually' fallen off a cliff rather than 'literally' or did she mean someone wrote about it falling of the cliff?
Report blackburn1 • January 1, 2010 10:20 AM GMT

Report baracouda30 • January 1, 2010 10:23 AM GMT
Yes, the 'get' thing is an unwanted Americanism.

No, but you could GET yourself shot in the face you dipstick.
