Just get the firm you work for to buy you a first class season ticket, sit back and enjoy watching the inventive methods the underclasses use to save a few pennies.

The firm you work for? Get a job to get away from paying train fare? Noooo ty.
By:
Sorry - assumed a few of you on here worked....but you're all professional gamblers, so I stand corrected. You're just fare dodging for the thrill of it, and not to save money (phew).

Working is for mugs. Student with maximum loans, grants and bursaries is great. :)

Does getting a job mean you lose your sense of humour?

That's reminds me of another. I went and sat in the first class without a ticket. Nobody asked for my ticket, but someone brought me a newspaper. Get in!!!!

Does getting a job mean you lose your sense of humour? Depends how you take my posts. |

By:
JOCI, don't think HMRC will ever buy me a season ticket of any class!, and I do travel on HMRC's behalf!
By:
Not managed to wangle it myself either, and my ticket cost £4700+.
By:
almost £100 a week?
where do you travel? |
By:
To London on West Coast line.
By:
from? Manchester?
By:
Milton Keynes!
By:
would never have thought milton keynes was on the west coast!
By:
It is a bit strange but Euston is West Coast and it seems that Kings Cross is East Coast line.
By:
I don't know anything about your lines down there since am up here, might be useful to know how far you travel in miles in 1 journey?
By:
Only about 50+ miles each way (and a few miles on the underground). That's Standard Class too.
By:
and that's £100 a week?, yer being robbed
By:
And that's heavily discounted due to buying the annual season ticket.
By:
well they're all on 50k plus salaries down there so no bother really
By:
Are they.
By:
the ones that chat on chit-chat seems to say that
By:
If you allow for taxation on your salary, that's way more than 10% of the net income of someone on £50k, which is a decent chunk of your earnings, and just for the privilege of travelling to work.

best move closer

Housing too expensive then. Never get a 4 bed detached in London for a reasonable amount. Rather do the commute.
By:
goodness knows how the ones that work in supermarkets in London live
By:
read and mp3 player is the best or mp3 player and pretend to be asleep, the mp3 is a great excuse for not hearing him calling "tickets". ;-)
By:
I never used to pay for tickets, now the have barriers and ticket gates at the stations I used to use I simply just travel by train a lot less
By:
Dave Edwards. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but my post was meant as a rhetorical question directed at the non-payers in general and not to you personally.
By:
naydam, no problem mate. It was a good few years ago now. It was a way of raising a little betting bank!!
By:
how do you scam the ticket barriers at London Waterloo?
Not many ticket inspectors on the train but need a valid ticket to get through the barriers. |
