Sky dishes shpuld not be affected by rain or snow.
What may have happened is that the plastic casing that protects the LNB has become loose and is letting moisture in. You need to get it looked at.

I sometimes have this problem too, being temporarily unable to access BBC4, BBC2, C4 etc.
Inadvertently I also found a solution to it. I tune into channel 401 (Sky Sports), get a picture, then immediately tune to the station I actually want (e.g BBC4 116). It has worked evert time I've tried it (hundreds of times).

had a similar problem with snow storm a couple of weeks back - didn't correct itself when storm cleared, had to re-boot the box and then pictures came back

Dragon , If there are Trees in your line of sight to 23degrees above the horizon satellite , then snow gatheres on the branches and blocks signal , also heavy rain falling added to branches in the line of sight , means "poorer" signal strength channels cut out as "No Signal being received" .. I got my trees causing these problems cut down :-)
