Title of thread. A line about how you should spend all your money before you die. Vague I know but it's bugging me.

My Grandad was in a syndicate that won 9m on the lottery about 5 years ago, he received 1/2m as his share.
We as a family have never really had money like this and ave always had to work for what weve got.
My Nan died years ago and he has remarried, my Mum is his only child still living, his wife has 3 children.
This money has already caused problems and as he is now 85 and has got Alzheimers I am hoping he can spend as much as possible before he goes.
It will cause untold arguments/fights once he has gone, Ive told him many times to just blow as much as poss to stop all this happening but I dont think he realises how much it really is.

Worst is the 70odds who die now, from the generation of debt stigma and not quite graping how things have changed. Living like paupers and thinking they will save their offspring with a £24k shareout... amongst 10.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I disagree, you could liquidise a camel and get it through the eye of a needle, very slowly mind you but it could be done and since the kingdm of heaven does not exist no-one will be going there so
It's actually easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle.

Hypothetical Question:
If you knew the exact day you were going to die, which would enable you to budget accordingly, blowing the last few quid the day before, would you want to know?
By:

Yep. Not particularly for the money reason though.

Fenway 31 Dec 09:26

I think most people time it badly, they don't spend it because they think they might need it 'some day'. And by the time they realise they have more than enough to see them through they are too old to be able to enjoy it

I agree with Fenway

A Jewish Bookmaker of my acquaintance died this week at 95 years old and he was a Millionaire, having been in the game in the halcyon days of the Track....still wanted 50p of his sandwiches and 50p of his petrol.

I'm sure he believed he could TRY to take it with him....
