Some of you seem to be setting your goals way too high - not realistic to expect you to go from sinner to saint in a matter of 24 hours, the diet plans won't be stuck to, nor will the exercise plans, you'll lose motivation, and give up.

It's more a case of eating sensibly, if you want a pizza then have one, but bother to read the nutritional info on the box. A small Pizza Express Margherita from a supermarket isn't the cheapest option, but it has by far the lowest amount of fat and calories than other pizzas, some of which look the same but actually have 1/2 your recommended daily amount of fat in them.

Also shouldn't focus just on actual exercise (which can be seen as a painful chore) and try to generally live a more active lifestyle. Aside from going to the gym 4 times a week and playing cricket at weekends I usually walk 3 miles at least 3 times a week simply by choosing not to use buses but to walk to the nearest tube station, or walking into town at lunchtime etc.

For those who've got to a reasonable fitness level, try tabata intervals. Warm up, then all out 20 secs, 10 secs rest, eight reps. Total four minutes. In many years of training, this is the most effective exercise method I've found when done with full body movements.

They will get you fit and strip off fat much faster than aerobic exercise. You can use any compound exercise, and can switch exercises if you want. (You will probably have to). Squats or squat thrusts with overhead presses are good. Plenty of tabata on youtube. Don't try the punch outs on heavy bag if you might need your arms in the next few days.

The downside is that they are torture. At halfway twenty seconds seems like a year, and ten second rest is nothing. By rep seven you will be losing the will to live if you're doing it properly. Don't do it if not used to exercise or without a doctors check up. You will be near max heart rate for a while.

Build to three times a week, the results will suprise you.

Following on from yesterday, I had -

Lunch - Jacket Potato with tuna and sweetcorn (no mayo)
Dinner - Grilled chicken breasts with tomato salsa

One cup of tea, three pints of water, one can of Coke Zero

Today, I had a slice of toast for breakfast, and a quick run. Don't know how far, but I was jogging, and it took me 20 minutes. Was absolutely feckin knackered afterwards :(

I've never had a nice protein shake mate. I've had drinkable shakes but never a nice one.

I put some mixed seeds in, and some peanut butter.. didnt quite make me gag but each mouthful was a chore. Now I'm not hungry but not sure if it's cuz of it's nutritious value or because it's swirling round inside making me nauseous

19 fatties signed in. Dont be the one who has put weight on come weigh day.
Remember eat less, exercise more, drink less beer and dring more water.
Its that simple. So dont make it complicated. Motivation is all that is needed.

If money, time and effort are no object then there are alternatives to protein shakes.

Chuck some complex carb fruits into a blender (strawberries, apples etc) with some natural yoghurt, 15g linseeds, 15g pumpkin seeds and a scoop of unflavoured whey protein (available in all heath shops or online). Blitz it for a couple of minutes (linseeds very small).

Benefits of this:

complex carb fruits will provide sustained energy. They are converted to glucose slowly so much less likely to be stored as fat and instead used by your body.

fruit contains natural vitamins and minerals.

Natural yoghurt adds thickness and contains miscellar casein protein (slow digesting)

pumpkin seeds = omega 6, fight bad bacteria

linseeds = omega 3

whey protein = rapidly absorbed, perfect combined with miscellar casein.

extremely healthy and it'll taste a hell of a lot better than a protein shake

I say money ^^ but it isn't that expensive, it's just if you're making more than 1-2 per day it'll start to add up. Mainly time that is the issue.

Another good day for DS, breakfast I had pineapple chunks and 3 bean salad from M+S as I was driving early.. Went to the gym did half hour cardio and a load of weights, as set by a trainer at the gym.. had that skanky shake (see above) at about 3pm, but FH it has actually filled me.. made a thai curry (some coconut milk, sue me) that I'll probably have a small portion of today, and finish it tomorrow) but not hungry yet.. been grazing on blackberries, raspberries and some Omega Sprinkle mix of seeds. Motivation is still sky high and feeling full of energy. What's evryone else had?

Dublin - the strawberry is ok... dont put peanut butter in that one though

its the chocholate flavoured promax that you mix peanut butter with... makes it taste like a snickers milkshake.

vanilla is 2nd best.
