Report yorky • December 30, 2009 8:08 PM GMT
yes he never gets up before midday normally this day was on a boat at 9 am , when it hit, he said he looked down under the boat and all the sea had turned brown, though omg whats this looked to shore and where he was staying in the beach hut was being smashed to bits
Report heed the baw • December 30, 2009 8:24 PM GMT
terrible stuff
Report yorky • December 30, 2009 8:29 PM GMT
his boat came back in 1 hr later and where he had been staying was just gone, headed for high ground and the football bag he had took all round the world was up a tree 1/2 a mile inland about 30ft up, his lasting memory was off the smell of dead people days later and of the locals kicking off cos of lack of help, all europeans had to shelter in a temple for safety
Report pox doctors clerk • December 30, 2009 8:31 PM GMT
a friend of mine was there at the time at one of the resorts that was badly hit, he was with his family about half a mile inland and for hours he was unaware that there had been a disaster, only when he returned to his hotel nearer the seafront that he realised something was wrong
Report ladycakes69 • December 30, 2009 8:32 PM GMT

This and Sept 11 - both unbelivable events, like watching a disaster movie for real.

Report everythings gone green • December 30, 2009 9:35 PM GMT
I read on another thread that some women believe that men cannot cry unless they see something that directly affects them.

After watching that programme I can confirm that this is not true.
Report STEPTOES YARD • December 30, 2009 9:37 PM GMT
So sad because as said naturally you wouldnt think there was a danger there at that point
Report yorky • December 30, 2009 9:38 PM GMT
those germans could run fast
Report heed the baw • December 30, 2009 9:39 PM GMT

Report STEPTOES YARD • December 30, 2009 9:40 PM GMT
ffs that guy just watched it come in :0
Report toosmoothxx • December 30, 2009 9:40 PM GMT
Why did that guy just stand there ?
Report sparkmaster. • December 30, 2009 9:40 PM GMT
I found it a bit uncomfortable, other than for the obvious reason. People talking in that format about the death of loved ones just seems a bit disrespectful. When they started talking about losing touch with their daughter and the creepy music started it just seemed really wrong to me. An ugly mix of rubbernecking and personal tragedy.
Report alabaster crashes down • December 30, 2009 9:41 PM GMT
excellent program, truly horrific at times. Made me a little ashamed to think that I've generally considered 9/11 to be the defining moment of this generation. The sheer gravity of the tsunami seems to have been lost somewhere along the way.
Report yorky • December 30, 2009 9:42 PM GMT
shall i do a joke to lighten the occasion
was at cleethorpes last year
a big hand came out of the sea and started moving from side to side, said to the wife run thats the biggest wave ive ever seen in my life
Report pox doctors clerk • December 30, 2009 9:44 PM GMT
the funny thing there yorky is the word cleethorpes
Report pox doctors clerk • December 30, 2009 9:46 PM GMT
and im not slating you by the way, you seem a decent type of guy, but sooner or later some knocker will come along to give you some stick
Report STEPTOES YARD • December 30, 2009 9:47 PM GMT
the strength of the current is just incredible
Report Perseus • December 30, 2009 9:49 PM GMT
Everyone thinks what they would or wouldn't have done but the speed and power of the wave is truly shocking
Report Perseus • December 30, 2009 9:51 PM GMT
Remember once seeing a prog (Horizon or something) where they compared wind/water power. Bloke could stand in a 70mph wins but sonn as the water reached his knees he was swept away. Water is frighteningly powerful
Report Nowthenyagga - Alright eh • December 30, 2009 9:54 PM GMT
9-11 should never have happened ... this was nature at its worst.. 9-11 was mankind at its worst, unless you blieve the muppet conspiracy freaks.
Report STEPTOES YARD • December 30, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
Just an awful sight that on the beach :(
Report yorky • December 30, 2009 10:03 PM GMT
as I said earlier, r kid said sight and smell of bloated dead bodies worse than anything
Report cooperman • December 31, 2009 1:17 PM GMT
Seems amazing now that nobody recognised what was happening and many didn't feel threatened enough to take any action.
Report Gary Binosh • December 31, 2009 1:38 PM GMT
watching it now, its horrific, people dont seem to realise how serious it is

and i know this footage is amazing, but you're shouting to them, just throw the f*cking camera and save yourself!
