What were your highlights of this year and what are you looking forward to next year?
I loved the way the MP's tried to justify some of their expense claims. Hazel Blears was exceptional.

Probably shouldnt have said 'highlight' but on a non personal note that sticks out for the fact that they all tried to excuse themselves as if they did nothing wrong.

The fact they all stood there and said''oh yes the systems wrong'' no time for any of them.

Fraud no more no less

viz did a superb spoof of all that. Something involving John Prescott beingon the gravy train by spending 100k of taxpayers money on a gravy powered train. When questioned about it he said he was furious that the system allowed him to waste taxpayers money in this way and that he was going to fight the cause of the hard working man in the street by going straight to parliament and kicing up a fuss.

was much funnier in viz

Notice though, PP, that politicians understand better than anyone in public life that you just need to have no shame and let a little time pass, before reclaiming (sic) old ground.

The recommendations have been undermined, the measures watered down and now the penalties are being openly challenged. The excesses of the House of Lords have passed almost unremarked and stand comparison with the worst of the commoners' greed.

What's the solution orioles?

My pal, a public sector lawyer, made me rofl with her description of her annual assessment, in which her boss reproved her for being a bit too hung up on 'legality'.
