He loses £50 cash plus the value of the shoes. sj Should be £50 including value of the shoes...I'm nearly as stupid as the £70 brigade as I can't even type what I mean :( :( :( sj |

By:
answer the ds gave was 60 quid !!!
By:
How would the shoe shopkeeper be able to change back the £50 note if he has given the woman £20 of it?
If he can, and has, he would have the correct change to give to the woman in the first place, so wouldn't have needed to go next door :| |
By:
how?!
By:
fft
because when the original shopkeeper tells the other shopkeeper that he's changed it now....the other shopkeeper says...i don't give a fook about that i want my 50 quid back. |
By:
Why are people getting personal and calling each other stupid for giving an answer. FFS, grow up.
By:
Think i'm trying too hard here to be honest. how can he give the £50 back if he has given £20 of it away? :^0
By:
he had 5 mins before the next door bloke came back, maybe he sold more shoes in that time.
By:
A possibility, of course :D
By:
Because the shopkeeper had a real £50 note to begin with, so replaced the fake :)

answer the ds gave was 60 quid !!! That's a thinker ! :D |
By:
umm because that has nothing to do with the 2nd shopkeeper ..it's just tough shiite on the 1st one.....the answer is £50 for me...the 50 swapping over means nothing as we're back where we started....so it's woman getting 20 and a 30 pair of shoes...isn't it :-)
By:
maybe he had to put a tenner in the swear box

answer the ds gave was 60 quid !!! That's what you get for purchasing your wife's Christmas present from a dodgy geezer in the pub rather than paying top dollar at a reputable retailers, you tight git ;) sj |
By:
sj, you are right !!!
you wait until that dodgy thai guy comes in the pub again, i will stick the pair of shoes up his arse !! |
By:
Did you pay him with jekyll twenties ;)
sj |
By:
i think i've got the £60 explanation..
shopkeeper 2 gives him 50 changed up shopkeeper 1 then hands that over to woman... she then gets the shoes for £30..which the shopkeeper is then down shopkeeper 2 comes back in and shopkeeper 1 hands over a fresh £30 to him....plus the 20 he had already got from him....so £60 down...ds is right :-) |
By:
hang on though :^0
By:
£60 cannot be done
By:
if its £60, the other shopkeeper must of lost £20. the original shopkeeper lost £30 on shoes and the £30 he had to give back to other shopkeeper.
By:
wd duffy
By:
The other shopkeeper hasn't lost anything though!
By:
i reckon it's 50 now :^0....30 for the shoes...and the 20 he had to make up to the 2nd shopkeeper.
By:
no money was lost between shops, fake 50 swapped for real 50, then swapped back again.
By:
forgive and forget...haven't seen you on here for yonks.
By:
20 was lost that woman walked away with..plus her shoes
By:
i bet the 2nd shopkeeper switched the original real £50 for a fake he had accidentally taken the week before.
By:
why the fook didn't she empty the till while the silly fooker was next door....does the ds touch on this?
By:
not much luck duffy. he gives the £50 back. so back to the drawing board for me.

why the fook didn't she empty the till while the silly fooker was next door....does the ds touch on this? there was pretty much feck all in the till anyway :p |
By:
christ...now i think it's 70....once the 50 is changed...the woman gets 20 of it...as the shoes are 30....then he has to give the 30 that's left back to the shopkeeper...plus make up the 20 that's gone to the woman....so 20 20 plus the shoes for 30. :-)
By:
fft...good point. B-)

This is a not-a-puzzle dressed up to look like one. It seems to have caught quite a few.
When the dust has settled... The woman has exchanged a worthless piece of paper for £50 (shoes 30, cash 20) Shopkeeper B briefly exchanged the worthless piece of paper for £50 but has exchanged it back again with the same person. He's neither gained nor lost anything. A red herring. Shopkeeper A is now in possession of the worthless piece of paper which he's paid £50 for (shoes 30, cash 20) Shopkeeper A has therefore lost £50 in this transaction, and the woman has gained it. It's exactly what it seems. It's not a puzzle. Assuming he makes a profit on his shoes, Shopkeeper A may only have paid £20 for the shoes which he sold for £30. In that respect he may have only lost £40 instead of £50. |

The woman gave him 50 and took 20 and a pair of shoes. He changed the note and then changed it back - so that part is irrelevant. so it's £20 and a pair of shoes The DS is wrong. I'd write a letter and complain..... It'd be good to see what they say. |
By:
answer £20 plus the shoes .... whats the problem ?
By:
lets just say the fake 50 is a worthless token. He gives the token the the other guy, gets 50 quid, keeps 30 (which he didnt have before) and gives the nasty ** 20 change. Then he has to get this 30 - plus another 20 - to give to the other bloke in exchange for the token. So he's lost 20 plus the shoes...
By:
Can i just ask .... what type of shoes were they ?
By:
The shoes were imported from China , are crap, and stand him in a fiver a pair.
He's lost £25 |
By:
The guy is bankrupt.Never met a bird yet that couldn't resist telling all her f00kin mates about shoes. When he left the shop she's straight on the blower and hordes of screaming f00kin mingers empty his shop like locusts.
