its a sad sign of the times with regard to the seemingly decreasing bird population, well, where i live, your fortunate to see any bird!
remember as a kid going into nearby woodland and nearby farms and seeing lapwings, finches, tits, even skylarks. I would have thought many birds wouldve been attracted to housing estates simply to obtain food |

plenty of sparrows in my garden. not much else though!

There is a tree in the centre of my town which is a roost for dozens of pied wagtails. I was not aware they roosted communally, like starlings.

A forumite mentioned a couple of days ago that he'd just seen a sparrow get despatched by a magpie.

Normally see a couple of robins when the going gets cold(when they start to tolerate one another),but like the sparrows they are missing.
By:
I put food out in the garden for them and see plenty. Have to keep an eye out for pigeons nicking the food though because they'll drive the sparrows off.

another animal you dont see as many of today is hedgehogs, at 1 point you would see them in city backgardens as well as in rural areas just dont seem to see many about nowadays
By:

By:

By:
Used to have sparrows nesting under our roof eaves but whilst having plastic soffits installed hasn't helped them, there has to be another factor in their decline.
