This type of death always gives a chance to those that want others to know how bothered they're not about a life ending.

Tragic news though
32 isnt an age to die.

larrence 20 Dec 22:13
yeah very sad news indeed , only 32 as well. God bless her

Ibrahima Sonko 20 Dec 22:23
she was in 8 mile.
rip.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tragic news?
A drug taking actress that most have never heard of dies and that's tragic news?
Well,it might be tragic for her family and friends, but it can't possibly be tragic for someone sat in front of a computer in England.
Some people have a strange idea what tragic is.

You miss the point CB.
These people wouldn't post here about a genuine tragedy but are quite happy to post about a "celebrity" death.

i'm not aware of anyone saying it was tragic for them

i just saw 'tragic news' and 'very very sad news' plus comments that 32 is a young age to die

the latter would seem spot on given life expectancy is significantly higher than this

even in parts of africa it isn't that low

can you define a genuine tragedy please
By:

Millions of children starving to death?
or
A young family from your street, that you knew personally, killed in a car crash by a drunken driver?
or
An old war hero with dementia living in squalor in a bedsit with no family to look after him?

That sort of thing.

Type in below those three:
or
A 32 year old little known actress dying with a drug problem?

What do you think now?
Still tragic?

a drug-**ed , privliged actress who overdoses is any thing but a tragedy.
Who really gives a **.
I never saw any of her work, and even if I had So **ing what
.

If the san Andreas fault fractured and all off Hollywood sank into the sea,
It would not make 1 iota of difference to my life.

I WILL PUNT ON

lol is it a competition to decide what is more tragic

personally i haven't known a family in my street to die at the hands of drink drivers, nor the story about the pensioner

however i did make a comment the other week about humans letting others starve to death

does that make me all caring now?

It was canaryboy taking the p.ss out of prats like barney that mde me laugh

I thought that perhaps I agreed with Canaryboy

canaryboy 21 Dec 19:28
erm why would you feel the need to say how bothered you aren't at a person you never knew, dying?

Barney The Bot Slayer 22 Dec 15:30
I'm alittle lost,
Every body seems sad about a person they never met, dying.

pretty sure you weren't agreeing with canaryboy.

Was probably tragic to members of his family etc....

so basically people shouldn't comment about any famous death as that's disrespectful to other people who die and in more tragic circumstances? are these the rules we must follow?
By:

ffs lol i'm not talking about anything being tragic to the families, i'm taling about the actual event

a tyrant who murdered thousands dying is not a tragic event
By:
canaryboy
When: 22 Dec 09 09:42
i'm fairly sure deaths are tragic to the majority of families

it's kind of a given with family bonds etc

I gave an honest opinion, expressed my true feelings, apparently keyboard thugs like canaryboy can't handle that, he wants to silence dissenters in the same way Stalin did, by sending them to the Gulag.

No one can disturb canaryboy's happy little world, a world full of Pixies and Jamaican bobsled teams. You know what? i'll continue to speak the truth because the truth is all there is.

I remember someone old once said to me: "That lies will lock you up with truth the only key."
You know what? it's as true today as the day it was first said.

Well I won't back down, No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down.

larrence 15 Nov 21:27
makes me so cross, i feel for all famillies who lost their love ones!!! so sad!!

so are these deaths not genuine tragedies?

larrence seemed to care a great deal i would say. he started the thread. or are soldiers celebs these days?

You're a keyboard thug and a PC bully. You couldn't just accept that i had a different perspective on the issue, you had to mock and belittle me. You've used a tribute thread to stroke your own ego.

This is probably the first time someone has stood up to you and now look at ya, you're stumbling around punch drunk, not sure what to do.

Let me just say this, If You Want To Dance Cowboy, Let's Dance.

Right,so now we can all agree that there are different degrees of tragedy.
For those that still doubt that:A member of your family dying is more tragic for you than it is for me and vice versa.
So,I think (and so do you if you stop and think about it)that the death of Brittany Murphy isn't one of the great tragedies.
That's all.

always happens on these threads though. this one hasn't been so bad really. it's not like she was jade goody or something.
By:
canaryboy
When: 22 Dec 09 10:47
the family thing is perfectly valid and completely obvious

comparing that to this death is totally irrelevant as it's nothing to do with personal tragedy

so it can't be commented on a personal level, just as an event

an event which is obviously tragic unless you're a bit stupid

So all deaths are tragic are they?
By:
canaryboy
When: 22 Dec 09 10:52
i'd say the majority of deaths where a young person who has everything to live for is a tragedy yes

and when they're talented, it's a tragedy for their field of work too

Always the last remark, always with the derogatory or sarcastic comment to make yourself feel big.
You're petrified that i've exposed ya in front of your chit chat buddies, your good time pals.

You know what i think ? i don't think you really care that this girl has died, in fact i think you're happy about it, you live for this kind of thing, it gives you a distraction from your boring unsatisfying life.

You're the type of person that gets excited before the evening news starts, hoping that something has happened, hoping that someone has died or something's been blown up. It fills the void in your life.

Admit it, admit it right now, you're an addict and celebrity death is your crack cocaine.

So I'm supposed to feel sad because someone I never knew existed has ceased to exist ?
Maybe I should scan the newspapers of the entire globe and read the details of the various deaths of the unknown masses . I should then draw up a scale which would reveal the depth of tragedy of a particular demise. I would turn up my sadness level for the most tragic and feel just a mild pang of pity at the least.

I would live a life of nihilistic vicarious sadness over the fate of deceased strangers.....oh , but I should also scour the forums of the world so that I could emote about my noble feelings and show what a beacon of caring and compassion I am . Yeah , right . :^0
By:
Gene Hackman

That is an implicit admission that all deaths aren't tragic.
You see that the death of a little known drug taking actress is a tragedy.
I don't.
We can probably leave it there now CB.

well yes a 100 year old person dying isn't exactly a tragic event

and how well or little known she is to people doesn't bother me

or her weaknesses

i just see her as a talented young woman with a life ahead of her and plenty to offer

Perhaps we could make a list. Starting with your,

A) Some one like your Princess Di or Mother Theresa

Down to.

Z) Some old dosser that dies alone and lonely with no family and who won't be mourned or missed by anybody.

Then when somebody like Ms Murphy dies, we could agree that she was a J or a K and the forum could go back to being a peaceful, friendly place where everybody gets along :)
