Bread a v.good call. tried making it once or twice, pretty much a disaster. My gran used to make
bread too, and I thought it was rubbish.

Not much else as far as I can think of, most stuff better cooked at home imo.
Report positively4thsteet • December 20, 2009 2:26 PM GMT
puff pastry and flaky pastry both good calls as well.

I've never tried making fresh pasta, but I can't imagine the effort would be that much better than buying from the supermarket. Especially for the fusilli shapes
Report positively4thsteet • December 20, 2009 2:32 PM GMT
slarty, i suppose at a push you could make salad cream or ketchup. but baked beans?

i tried making mayonaisse (poor man's salad cream) once. was a disaster.
Report slartybartfast • December 20, 2009 2:33 PM GMT
pasta a top call - who apart from a celebrity chef would bother?
Report slartybartfast • December 20, 2009 2:34 PM GMT
I take your point, Rob, I was perhaps being too "blue sky" in my thinking.
Report Gene Hackman • December 20, 2009 2:34 PM GMT
You could say the same for custard slarty. The Tinned stuff is fine.
Report billy hill • December 20, 2009 2:35 PM GMT
also any sort of home made tomato pasta sauce which doesn't include either a tin of tomatoes or tomato puree ends in disaster.
