Have fallen once already and have a bloodied hand. We've had freezing fog here for days and it's covered the ground in a film of black ice. Even the roughest road surfaces are like a skating rink. Hospital casualty departments are going to have a busy day.

The best black ice is when the temperature stays below zero.

Th worst is when it creeps to just above zero, you get a micrometre of melted ice on top that makes it ultra-slippy.

yea the other morning there was loads of black ice on the path, its a 25mins walk to work but I gave up after 5mins cos I was going far too slow, and walked back home and booked a taxi instead
