A student who was pictured urinating on a war memorial in Sheffield has quit his university course.
Philip Laing, 19, of Macclesfield, Cheshire, admitted in court to outraging public decency after the Daily Mail published the photograph.
Last month a judge ordered him to do 250 hours' community service.
Sheffield Hallam University has now confirmed Laing has decided to withdraw from the sports technology course, which he began in September.
Following the case last month, the university had been discussing disciplinary proceedings against him for bringing its reputation into disrepute.
'Hurt and distress'
But in a statement on Tuesday, the university said: "Following discussions with the university, Philip Laing has decided to withdraw from Sheffield Hallam.
"We now consider this matter closed."
Sentencing Laing at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on 26 November, District Judge Anthony Browne said he had decided against a custodial sentence.
"I have never seen anyone more contrite for what has happened nor one who regrets more the hurt and distress he has caused," he told Laing.
"You have understandably had the wrath and indignation of the public heaped upon you and your family."
The judge, who also ordered Laing to pay £185 costs, said the student had been significantly punished.
2 months into a "sports Technology" Course, not as if he were dropping out of his final year at Cambridge science degree is it?
I think ruined his life is a bit strong :^0
