Camerawork by colour-blind acid casualties who are trying to be Quentin Tarrentino
Gary Lineker's ad libs so obvious you feel Tonto is setting them up ("Joke come Kenmo Sabe - punchline arrive in 5 minutes"). Gary, you can't do deadpan so stop trying - and by 'trying' I mean 'breathing'.
Balls to whatever the result is - it's bound to be divisive. The show itself is a bloated mess.
So...a league medal...no more impressive...well actually less impressive than his team-mates who played more games.
He's a nice guy, and an all-time great, but the biggest personality or performer this year...no chance.

The man has been one of the best footballers this country has produced and he doesn't deserved to be treated like some senile old woman, with everyone patting him on the head and telling him how good he used to be, whilst giving him undeserved awards.
All this $hite undermines not only the awards but the Giggs own achievements.
He was far too good to have to rely on sympathy recognition to sum up his career
Giggs will be truly embarrassed by all this. The man has been one of the best footballers this country has produced and he doesn't deserved to be treated like some senile old woman, with everyone patting him on the head and telling him how good he use
as i said on another thread. Redgrave didn't win spoty for his first, second, third or forth golds.
He did for his fifth - that was a lifetime achievement award - we won 11 gold medals that year, why was he put ahead of everyone?

Won't be Scholesy - it's not a Man Utd thing, it's a worn out Welshman thing. The smart money for next year is on Robbie Savage for an outstanding career of haircuts.

Couldn't it be said that Redgrave was instrumental in winning all 5 of those golds. I doubt Man U would have achieved any less without Giggsy in the last 12 months.

not necessarily sticking up for him, i find it all v.strange.....
but football is the biggest sport in the world. he was player of the year in one of the biggest, if not the biggest, leagues in the world. he won the league title, league cup and was r/up in euro cup.
and i haven't mentioned all his past achievements which is clearly the reason why he won it in a similar way to steve redgrave in 2000

Redgrave was part of a team in all his golds. i'm no rowing expert, but i'm sure people were saying pinsent was the best in that boat of 4 in 2000. Redgrave was just another member of the 4 man crew that won a gold (one gold of 11 won by GB that year). Giggs was voted the best player (of say 300+ players) in one of the best leagues in the most competitive sport in the world.
Having said all that, there is no precedent whatsoever for a football player winning spoty on the basis of club form.
Don't think they did a lifetime achievement award this year, was bobby charlton last year and bobby robson the year before, and a few others before.

I missed the programme tonight but caught up with the result on Ceefax. I'm amazed Giggs won.
Rob, on BBC news they reported Seve won the Lifetime Achievement award.

No you'r right Tommy. He has won a lifetime achievement award twice ffs.
just checked on wiki. he won it in 1997 too.
Surely you can't win a lifetime award twice!!!! That's why i thought his award tonight had a different title.

Delighted that Fred "Tenby" Davies got it this year but thought the overseas award should of gone to the boxer Jack Johnson (would of been the first coloured winner too).
