Does it save money turning off a radiator in a room you arent using? Or if the heating is on does it make no difference how many radiators are on?

Sorry for the dull question but just curious.

Seems pointless heating a room if you're not using it.Save the planet!

Probably not a simple answer. Having one room cold would cause a larger differential between it and the hall or landing and rooms above and below etc. Heat could then be taken up trying to level the temperatures adn draughts under the door. We keep our unused rooms with rads on mimimum thermo.

it costs less because when you turn it off you're in effect reducing the size of the circuit, albeit in a small way, but over the year it (obviously) adds up. in a big house with several radiators switched off when not in use, e.g. bedrooms during the daytime, the savings are greater

also depends on where your thermostats are situated

Correct me if im wrong but thought heatjng is designed to heat an area,so by switching off a radiator the boiler will have to work harder to heat the same area

you save a lot

keep door closed to cold area- and use draft excluder or lay the dog alongside the door
