I'd expect the next batch of consoles will be out in around 2 years. Although what MS are doing with Natal, and Sony are up to something fairly similar, will probably keep these consoles going for a bit longer. After all, the current climate probably isn't the best to land with another new £300+ piece of hardware!!

They'll still be making games for it in 6-7 years mate. We just finished what was probably our last PS2 game this year, most companies are still releasing their major brands on PS2. So it won't be a prob.

Sonko - not on the hardware. But they are still creaming it in from the $6 per disc royalty they take from publishers :D Always been the way they make their money back.
As I said above, things like Natal will stretch how long the current generation remains. But traditionally, a new hardware launch comes every 5-6 years.

There's some serious pimping of this stuff going on to developers right now. MS are putting a lot of $ and weight behind this. I've seen some early stuff, and if it lives up to the hype it is going to be huge!
