A question for mac mini users....

........what iyo is the best way to get pics/sound to a sony bravia 40z4500. I was going to do it via an adapter and hdmi but have hit a problem with getting the sound to my tv - it only has an 'optical out' not 'in' for the sound and neither does my amp (kandy mk3). It has got a socket called 'pc in' and it says to 'use a PC cable with ferrites such as the connector d0sub 15". I think this is just vga which I'm not sure will be good enough quality but it seems to be the only way that i will be able to do it! Anybody help?
