i agree punter, they have done well. but they are limited in ways that mainstream science does not want to address certain fundamental assumptions that all science is based on.

for example

we assume reality is objective and consistent and more importantly that humans have the capacity to perceive reality accurately. we base this on our 5 sense because these are all we know, however these are merely filters that the brain uses to interpret signals it receives. everything is really resonance, or vibration, whether sound, light or mass. we do not know if what we sense is the be all and end all.

we assume rational explanations exist for elements of the world we live in. perhaps reality is irrational?

the nature of something cannot be observed independently of the observation, so our understanding will always be limited by perception. even in science where we use various tools etc to measure stuff, perception still occurs.

BonViv, a glimpse of vintage Seth............"You are like children with a game, and you think that the game is played by everyone. Physical life is not the rule. Identity and consciousness existed long before your earth was formed. You suppose that any personality must appear in physical terms. Consciousness is the force behind matter, and it forms many other realities besides the physical one. It is, again, your own viewpoint that is presently so limited that it seems to you that physical reality is the rule and mode of existence" --

"You create your reality according to your beliefs and expectations, therefore you should examine these carefully. If you do not like some aspect of your world, then examine your own expectations"

Chicken or Egg though - did the painting predict the spiral or is someone trying to fulfil a prophecy? no coincidence Obama is in Norway ....
Report DonWarro • December 10, 2009 10:45 PM GMT
did the painting predict the spiral

maybe the painting was done by someone who understood universal principals to the extent that they could access any time in history visually (or maybe just specific times). given the understanding of reality given as an opinion in this thread, this would be because time does not really exist. everything is happening at the same time, and because there is no distance or time there can be no space either - everything at a single point. possibly anyway :)

or is someone trying to fulfil a prophecy?

yes. see comments i made on this thread earlier which punter asked me to not talk about any more.

no coincidence Obama is in Norway ....

lol. indeed.

Report TiptheOdds • December 10, 2009 11:49 PM GMT
Apologies for not reading the whole thread before I post this but it is a bit long.

In reply to an interesting discussion earlier between DW and pf, I would like to say a couple of things:

(Punterfleecer asked if there was any need to worship ´god´or anything...)
Many people who have problems with organised religion and the concept of god might nevertheless say that religion/worship does give people - especially the poorest people in developing countries - hope ...of something better, of a miracle, of God delivering them, of heaven, or whatever. In some small way faith brings succour to the dispossessed and those in need. I have probably said the same thing myself.

But what if, as Don said earlier, the very existence of not just organised religion and all that that entails, but the simple belief of a higher power ie a god acts as a pacifier to people who would otherwise come to recognise the unfairness of their situation and fight back...So in effect the agents of organised religion - popes, bishops, priests, ministers, etc etc - have acted throughout history as enforcers for ruling elites to exploit the masses...And when they would say ´it is God´s way´ or ´it is the will of God´what they really should have been saying is ´actually we have a nice cosy relationship with the supreme power and between you and me, if you step out of line they will destroy you...´. We would like to help you but our hands are tied...´

Re something Don said earlier about evolution possibly being nothing more than a product of our own collective subconscious...along with a concept of heaven and hell... and presumably the devil and evil and all that. Its an interesting theory for sure. By dishing out just the right balance of good and bad fortune a kind of Matrix like homeostasis is created.

I just have one problem with that. How could evolution, if its a product of the human collective subconscious, impact on the animal world. Or are you saying that every species also has a collective subconscious and we are all doing the same thing?

Or are you saying that every species also has a collective subconscious and we are all doing the same thing?

a strong possibility. i would say we are unique though in that we are more in control of focussing our will and ahave a far greater potential to control our subconscious.

tbh im a little surprised we've had no religious people on this thread trying to convince us otherwise!

and btw - maybe do try reading the whole thread. i know it seems dauntingly long but to read it only really takes a few mins. number of pages is deceiving

I was thinking what I would say if I was asked, as someone was earlier, what they thought the lights above Norway were...and tbh I was surprised how anyone believed anything, with so little clear info around and conflicting reports.

The conspiracy theorist in me would probably say that whatever the politicians decide is the official explanation is probably NOT true. But saying exactly what it was - apart from some friendly aliens looking in on their labrats - is harder to say with any certainty. Believing the official explanation is the easiest way. A bit like God really...

Its simply easier to believe in god - most likely as a bearded white fella - than it is not to. Its easier to assimilate into your new Alabama home. Its easier to get jobs. And its easier of course if it turns out there really is one.

But is it healthier? I used to say to people that it must be great to live, like so many, as Forrest Gump. To believe in God. To believe the official explanation for everything. To believe we really do live in a meritocracy. To have no knowledge whatsoever of global warming, pollution, cover-ups, assassinations, conspiracies, CIA covert ops, Bergerbild or whatever. Life must be bliss..

Or is it healthier to be a bug in the system? To question everything? To never accept anything at face value. To never trust anyone: politicians, businessmen, journalists or church leaders. To always look for alternative scenarios to official explanations. To suspect corruption everywhere. To believe in Big Brother and a police state. To wonder if your neighbour is really Stasi...

I ask myself that question sometimes.
Report pablo • December 11, 2009 12:49 AM GMT
ignorance is bliss

and a questioning mind can often send you mad as you process the reality that most of what you have been taught is not the truth
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 1:04 AM GMT
a fair point tip re health. go with the flow is better for the health i would suggest, unless you can achieve complete understanding of the universe in ways i suggested in this thread in which case you would be happy regardless.

re the lights - i think that "they" want us to question, and at this point they want us to not believe the official line. sort of reverse psychology - it just feels to me like they are trying to sell something. they want us to think it is something to do with god ie the man in the sky common understanding of god, or something to do with aliens. seems to me that they want us to believe that god is not a man with a white fluffy beard as you put it but actually an alien. seems like a new method of control to me - because that really would put the "fear of god" in people and make them fall into line.

re the line of thinking we've been discussing with regard to reality - perhaps the subconsicous desire of the masses IS for aliens to be god etc, and therefore that is what we are going to see within this reality, or at least forced to believe despite it not being true. perhaps this subconsicous desire started out within just a few people - or perhaps it was a conscious desire made by a small group in order to maintain control, and by planting seeds in the subconsicous of the masses through presenting such ideas within media to the masses, the desire has spread to a larger group of people. if this were true, the spread would gradually pick up speed until it became a reality via being the overwhelming subconsicous desire of the majority group consicousness.
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 1:06 AM GMT
i guess achieving understanding of everything is for the more strong minded of people, who are more likely to be able to cope and not go mad like you say
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 1:07 AM GMT
so i guess i think achieving understanding is something to aspire to, where possible, as it could create a greater state of bliss than that offered by ignorance

From what I've read, It's seems likely to be an Aurora (although some experts are saying it's not the Aurora Borealis). These are caused, apparently, by magnetic storms and are not uncommon in Northern regions at this time of year. Don't know much about the science, but they are connected with magnetic fields influenced by the rotation of the sun, hence the spiral shape.
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 1:29 AM GMT
seems plausible - but the aurora seen previously have never been symetrical or clear cut patterns ie like this spiral. and it doesnt really explain the beam of light that appears to reach from the centre of the spiral to the ground. also, aurora are usually flickering waves of light are they not rather than a seemingly static image. just playing devils advocate
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 1:32 AM GMT
i would agree magnetic fields are certainly changing, so it could explain why we would see something that seems unique. personally i think the changing magnetic fields of earth and the sun etc are in part responsible for our changing climate (not warming). but these changing fields could simply be a means to an end - the end being our subconscious collective desire (it wants climate change to occur maybe).

Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 2:40 AM GMT
perhaps being in able to control the reality in which we live, for all species, is what the "life force" really is. ie the apparent illusory lifeforce is greater in humans than in animals, which in turn have more than amoebas/plants etc. hence we see us as being more alive than plants etc

Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 4:19 AM GMT
no sorry cant really point you in any specific direction for that - it's been a long time since i looked bluebeam specifically.

the theories ive mentioned on that etc with regard to a overall thesis as you put it and re what they want to accomplish, what i expect to happen etc and re my overall theory of reality, i have not read anywhere else, they are my own, and the culmination of my investigation in to all manner of things of the passed x years. ive read all sorts of far out subjects, some of which i felt had an inkling of truth but were generally of base - i literally have removed all limitation on what i will consider no matter how taboo/marginalised/or seemingly crazy. condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance someone once said.

there is info to be gleaned everywhere you jsut have to put it together. i think im getting a fair picture in my mind, but it is always another ball game putting it into words. i think i am improving in this respect though and i guess this must be confirmation of my gradually increasing understanding.

glad you enjoyed reading. i enjoyed writing. helps me clarify things in my mind, and opposition and/or contribution from others is also of course helpful.

must go to bed. up at 8 again.
