Anyone got any good (i.e. cheap and close to town centre) hotel recommendations? Looking at the Carfax so far but there don't seem to be that many.

Travelodge is central and very close to some decent pubs and bars. Can be pricey but probably cheaper booked well in advance.

The Youth Hostel in Bath is cheap and great for stags - single rooms as well.
