What is the food like? I assume everything there is quite cheap

The food is truly horrific in Egypt i eat pretty much anything but Egypts one of the few places i actually sought out western/hotel food which i purposely avoid on most trips.Cairo or Luxor realy are not the places to seek out "local eateries" either as the hygenie and "meat" are appalling.Having said that antelope is their "beef" and it's very good but as to how they good the bleeding stuff!
I presume your staying in cairo as Giza is just a slum suburb of cairo where the pyramids happen to be...literally where the slum stops the desert/pyramids begin. |

And it's not particularly cheap as your in acapital city.and Luxor not really cheap either though hardly London prices.

There were a group of hotels near the pyramids and am staying in one of those.
Visa information is confusing. I looked on the Egyptian consular website and they say you need to gte one in advamce and then you look on tripadvisor and the British foreign office and they say you just buy it at the airport in Cairo! |
