Cos of the Labour laws and the cost of getting rid of staff on full time contracts lots are on part-time or cash in hand arrangements.

Good point. You'd think if it was really that high, the consequences would be so bad we'd be seeing it on the news, but we don't.

i refuse to believe that the eu are overestimating unemployment levels. they would go to the end of the earth to make things look like they're better than they are.

and i think part time workers are excluded from figs anyway are they not?

there are plenty of cash in hand workers and alike in this country - still, we know true unemploymnet is STILL higher than they say, even when this is considered. spain no different i would suggest.

the more rural you go, the more the spanish will despise you. all about attitudes and perception - and those of the cities are in many cases quite different to those outside.

At the moment, don´t know for how much longer though. It´s like a ghost town, nearly all my mates have gone back to the U.K. or are planning on going back next year but nobody can sell their properties unless you give them away.Bars and restaurants that were once thriving are a shadow of their former selves that´s if they are still open that is. The glory days were beyond superb but the gravy train has long since been derailed :(
