Definition of who is eligible
Voted for by the public live during the TV show, this prestigious award will be given to the sportsman or woman whose actions have most captured the public's imagination in 2008. Non-playing coaches or management are not eligible.
Why is Sir Alex Ferguson in the list?

Thanks to this post and the original post of GeorgeBrush I phoned Betfair today and after a few phone calls they have refunded my £74 that I bet on Sir Alex Ferguson. If I want to know something I turn to the forums first!! Thanks again, especially Baggers as I would not have known he was not eligible and as Baggers said a bet has to be able to win.
I have posted this on specials forum as well but I thought Baggers deserved a wider audience. And it goes to show that Betfair so sometimes listen - I think it is the first refund I have got off them!

Those words are not actually stated on the market conditions so you can't blame Annie. Betfair were totally at fault for putting up Sir Alex...

Of course I knew he was a manager. I have staked over £1400 on the Premier League winners market. I do know my ronaldo from my robinho! The point was that he was on the market for SPOTY so I, like betting shops and others, assumed he was eligible.
