oh for god's sake. of course there's been floods in the past. its a question of degree

Until the government implement one of the many ideas that could reduce CO2 emmissions without costing me more money, I will ignore their pleas for help.

is yr name really supposed to read 'untied'?
|
|
By:
anyone apparently willing to ignore so much evidence that climate change is happening probably should be in a straightjacket, i agree

have a read of this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_natural_disasters_in_the_United_Kingdom

what happened to the story that 75% Antarctic ice is increasing, only the 25% near Chile is receding?

no-ones denying there has been floods and stuff in the past u clown
|
|
By:
when its hot they say its climate warming, when it rains they say its climate change. they are changing their minds every f^cking year. look at that list of disasters and you will find that we get cold winters about every 20yrs apart. its the nature of this planet nothing else.

Sir Denis Eton-Hogg 07 Dec 17:45
no-ones denying there has been floods and stuff in the past u clown well you seem so clever, wot do you think it is. is it global warming or climate change and wots causing it. and have you got records going back to the creation of this planet. post the link if you got them |

if u represent the views of the general public then we really are stuffed!
|
|
By:
Sadly, many people do think that way.
Cynicism seems to be a national trait these days, can be quite funny, but when its an instinctive reaction to anything people dont understand or agree with, its dangerous. |

if u represent the views of the general public then we really are stuffed! and there are too many idiots like you about, if its not the weather its something else. PC brigade gone mad. |

Cynicism - oneof the higher forms of intelligence imo.

and where is that, EMR? out of thin air tev. Well that's a surprise - I thought for a moment you were going to say you had spent millions of dollars and taken years of painstaking scientific research to enable you arrive at your expert conclusion |

from another forum.
Status of IPCC contributors. The programme asserts that it is falsely stated that "2,500 top scientists" support the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)'s reports on the theory of man-made global warming. In fact, according to the programme, the report includes many politicians and non-scientists, and even dissenters who demanded that their names be removed from the report but were refused. Accuracy of representation of IPCC contributors. The film argues that IPCC reports misrepresent the views of scientists who contribute to them through selective editorialising. The film highlights the case of Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute who complained that the IPCC did not take his professional opinion under greater consideration. It states that the IPCC kept his name on the report as a contributor and did not remove his name until he threatened legal action. Suppression of dissenting views. According to the programme, the concept of man-made global warming is promoted with a ferocity and intensity that is similar to a religious fervor. Sceptics are treated as heretics and equated with holocaust deniers. Retired university professor Tim Ball states in the film (and in subsequent press publicity) that he has received death threats because of sceptical statements he has made about global warming. |

ICE HOUSE or HOT HOUSE?
During the last 2 billion years the Earth's climate has alternated between a frigid "Ice House", like today's world, and a steaming "Hot House", like the world of the dinosaurs. This chart shows how global climate has changed through time. http://www.scotese.com/climate.htm Try the above link, scroll down and look at the chart on page 1 Over the past 2billion years Earth has been very much warmer than it is today for 98% of the time - thats right - 98%- WITH AVERAGE WORLDWIDE TEMPERATURES OF 25c for great eons of time - 50% + THATS AVERAGE ! And look at the steepness of the graphs re switches to iceage and back!- far greater change than we are seeing now. Now- if want to manipulate climate for our own needs - thats fine and dandy - but no one should believe that the global temperature that we have enjoyed in our lifetime to date is anything other than an unusualy cool period . Please have a look and post your thoughts - does this seem to contradict what we are being told? |

If there was any truth behind the MMCC theory then Prof Jones wouldn't have needed to alter his figures. Why would he need to lie if it was a cut and dried subject. This guy has placed his entire career on the line by telling a pack of lies (in fact he's flushed it down the pan)... why would he do that? Here's a thought... maybe he did it to hide the fact that CC wasn't as cut and dried as he tried to make out.
The climate changing? Yes, it's pretty obvious. Man made climate change? Rubbish. Some people have been watching too many re-runs of Total Recall... terra forming planets? Easy peasy, just buy a car. |

Yes: 2.50
No: 1.66 |
|
By:
There weren't 6 billion people on the planet, then ffs!
No one is disputing natural climate change occurs. But it does so over timescales of thousands of years, due to astrophysical cycles, known as the Milankovitch cycles. |
|
By:
I had a Raleigh cycle when I was a kid, yours sounds posher than mine was.
|
|
By:
There was once no atmospheric oxygen - algae and then plants changed this over a long period- so life on earth can and does make CC
But- just because the current CC may not be mainly due to mans activities does not mean that we should be diverted from clean energy projects - poluting the planet- or poisoning the seas to the extent that they become more acidic and trigger another mass extinction event is not a wise course to be on. |

NO - walofs

By:
Does anyone know if there were predictions for what would be happening with the climate now in 2009 made in the 1990s?
|
|
By:
wur- check out the graph- my post above- the switch from cool to hot has- in the past - been a lot more rapid than you seem to suggest
as for 6 billion now - and 9 billion by 2050 - its total and utter madness - but no religion or politition will stand up and give guidance on our need to halve our population of this finite world |
|
By:
its quite a puzzle tho...
CFC's have created the ozone hole around the south pole - which has a cooling effect but the hole is closing now which will accelerate warming of antarctica |
|
By:
Perhaps we (US and NATO) should nuke Brazil, India and China... a pre-emptive mass attack should take 'em all out and will eventually save mankind. Driving 5 miles less each week and building a few wind farms ain't gonna do it!
|
|
By:
and next year if we get a good summer them climate people will say its due to global warming and if we get a cold jan/feb they will say its climate change. bet they got clothes for all occasions lol
|
|
By:
we havent had a good summer for years
|
|

Chinese govt is cutting its emissions 45%.
Are they part of the famous world wide conspiracy to raise taxes? They can force their citizens to only have one child. They can do what they want. Perhaps they are spending billiions for a laugh. |
|
By:
You have to take note when while the Bush administration was suppressing research and claiming everything was fine. The Pentagon was drawing up climate change strategies. Just for fun of course.
|
|
By:
It's true the Summers have been dire for god knows how long, the last one was absolutely the worst ever.
No Doubt the believers in it have other criteria but when we did have 10 days of very hot weather (in an otherwise feeble summer) during 2003 it was all 'This is Global Warming:It's Happening Right Now!'' , so wtf has it been since? |
|
By:
Do I believe in global warming - yes
Is it man-made or is man largely responsible - no |
|
By:
100% yes.
|
|
By:
if you have analysed the collected data, and reached the conclusion that it currently doesn't support the hypothesis that increased CO2 and methane emissions have an effect on our climate then by all means feel free to share your views.
otherwise the question is do i believe in the scientific process and the analysis of the world's leading climatologists, to which the answer is: yes. |
|
By:
dont all those global warming/climate change people dress alike, they are like the sun you can tell them a mile away. either they are wearing dirty jeans and scruffy shirts. or they are wearing green check shirts and cord trousers who go out picking mushrooms. if they are really concerned about co2 emissions wot are they doing on here. they should show an example to all of us and knock off their pc/tv's and sit watching their paint dry on their walls.

tober, I'll think you'll find that is the paper headlines and not the scientists.
they hate the soundbite headlines as much as you do. If you think you can take nearly the planets entire resource of oil and gas, laid down over millions of years and burn it in a 75 year period (majority of it burned in the last 40) and think it won't have an effect then where do you think it all goes? The ppoint of a complex dynamic ecosystem is thats its all about checks and balances it doesn't take much to send it spiraling into a new regime. As gamblers we should know this more than most. |
