The large majority of soldiers,etc, killed in WW1 were very young men ..because of the times they lived in ....most had never been with a woman ..
Because all these young men were wiped out.... there weren't enough men to go round the remaining women... so many grew into old maids never having been with a man ...

My grandad was in WWI, lost a leg in the battle of the Somme , 26 years old.. must have been horrendous :(

paulie -- your grandad was actually one of the "lucky" ones ..so many died there or received horrendous injuries ..
Half heads gone , faces gone , both legs gone , paralysed totally , etc ......I hope your Grandad lived a long and fairly active life m8 ...
